Monza arrived today, as expected. Box in pristine shape, so not anticipating any problems. Open it up and pull the amp out, and there's a weird dent in the grill cloth over the speaker--looks like maybe the box was placed on its back in the UPS truck, and some stuff piled on top. Not a big dent, but not the cosmetic perfection you want in a brand new, $1500 surf green amp. I called Humbucker, and they advised waiting a bit to see if it would just kind of flatten out on its own (seems unlikely), or taking out the speaker to see if I could press the grill-cloth flat by hand. Tried that, but it didn't help much--the grill seems stretched, a bit. The Humbucker guys said if neither of those things work, they'll initiate a UPS claim--but I'm not real hopeful about that outcome, since the box appears to be undamaged. The speaker's intact, and otherwise the amp looks great. And holy crap, it sounds tremendous, what a MONSTER 1x12. Huge, huge, huge note bloom and sustain, absolutely no need for an OD pedal (though with your basic RC Booster you can go from this great rhythm crunch to a gorgeous, singing lead tone)--I'd be very comfortable gigging this amp with nothing but a tuner, a boost and a delay. Or just tuner, delay and the volume knob on my Strat, for that matter.
So, question: anybody have any tips for a quickie home repair for a dented (but not punctured) grill cloth?

Found the culprit: The packing carton had some extra cardboard inside for reinforcement; some of that cardboard had these little fold-able tabs along the edges, about 1" x 2". One of those tabs was folded at a 90-degree angle, and positioned right above the speaker cone. Put the box on its back, put some heavy stuff on top of it, and that fraking tab makes a dent in my grill cloth. Argh.

Sorry about the mishap. I'd be bummed too.
What speaker is in your Monza, and how do you like it?

Thanks. G12H30--it seems about right, given the voicing of the amp, which is relatively bright (although not so bright as my Maz 18 R combo). I'm going to hook it up to my 112 V30-loaded cab today, and see what that does. Not that this bad girl needs any more bottom end--it's really exactly the amp I've been looking for, and it's got me thinking of selling my Maz 18 combo.
The dent does seem somewhat smaller today--not sure whether that's a psychic phenomenon (me, yesterday: OMFG it's dented!!!!! Me today: okay, it's a small dent. Very small. But still a dent) or if it's actually flattening out a bit with gravity/tension.

Then again, peeps pay BIG bucks for road worn Strats n Teles, and you've got a road warn Z at no extra cost!! (ok ok, easy for me to say as it isn't my Monza - just being super-positive ;D ) Love your description of the sound, and the fact that you've a G12H30 - same as my MazNR combo, and I love it. I think that's the boyo I'll get: the 1x12 combo. Let us know how you get along with the unique, custom feature, sorry, dent. Pete ;D

This is a bit dramatic but it works on some grill cloth. Used to use it on original Orange cabs. You might not want to do it on a new piece though. What you do is remove the speaker, spray the cloth with water from a spray bottle and then dry it with a hair dryer on high. It basically shrinks the cloth back into shape. It might be easier to make the UPS claim.

It might be easier to make the UPS claim. This might actually do the trick. The indentation has shrunk some in the past 24 hours and is now small/shallow enough that it's pretty hard to see, so it seems to want to return to its original shape--plus, I've totally fallen in love with the amp in the meantime and REALLY don't want to give her back (she's a dirty, dirty girl). I think even a damp rag and a blow-drier might do it. We'll see.

FWIW, I've carefully steam ironed slat and pepper grill with a towel before to remove wrinkles and dents from a mic stand.

FWIW, I've carefully steam ironed slat and pepper grill with a towel before to remove wrinkles and dents from a mic stand. just LET THE DENT COME OUT ON IT'S OWN. It sounds like what you'd experience with furniture indents when you first move it from carpet. It could sit there several years and before long you can't tell where it was moved. I wouldn't try something until at least a week went by. You said it's already disappearing. Leaving it alone is your best bet. If your still unhappy in a week than pursue Humbucker. They are good guys. While I have never had an amp issue. I have returned opened amps I didn't like and it's never been a problem. If the amp was damaged from what you describe. What your describing happened at the original packing phase. I am sure they will make things ok. Although it sounds like that's happening already. Congrats

My Monza has healed herself. The dent's completely gone. Weird, but true.

It probably needed some bonding time to heal the wound. Congrtas on a great amp.

Perhaps there is a good amount of "air" pushing the dent back out of the grill cloth ;D

Ya gotta love it when these minor annoyances work themselves out without much intervention.
And congrats on the amp. Loving mine!

Probably had something to do with the weather here, which has been alternating between rain/damp and sunny/dry the past week or so. But I prefer to think she healed herself, and, as someone said above, that the Doc planned it that way.
Doctorice--it's an amp to love. Still working around the fizz issue a bit with the BL, but as a balls-out bar screamer this critter's very nearly perfect. I'd be very comfortable gigging it with guitar, tuner, a single boost and delay. In a pinch, tuner and volume knob would do just fine.
