How dee! ;D
I am new to the forum - yes my name is Dave - yes I live near Denver. I just pulled the trigger on a 2005 Z28 2x10 combo on eBay after agonizing over a new amp for quite awhile.
I play rhythm guitar (acoustic & electric) in a country/country rock band that is very close to starting gigging (if our lead singer quits flaking out on us). I needed a uber good sounding clean amp for the rhythm stuff I do, and my Rivera Clubster 45 just wasn't it (nice amp, just not a sterling clean amp...). My main electric is a Robin Ranger Pro, and my backup is a knockoff cheap Tele copy I dropped some Rio Grande Muy Grande pickups in and turned it into a monster!
My Z28 is due in on Monday, and I probably taking the day off to get in a bit more playing time on the amp before band practice Monday night! I'm really psyched about the amp and about being a Dr Z owner.
BTW - the decision on which model of Z was pretty easy - I adore the Fender Deluxe Reverb and really lean towards 6X6 amps in general tonally. I really wanted to buy my friends 74 SF DR, but he wouldn't sell, plus I'd be too afraid to haul that amp in and out of clubs and bars.

Dave: Like you, I'm awaiting a new(used) Z-28, 2-10! Mine is in a shipping container on the Atlantic, and I should have it by Wednesday, at the latest. I bought mine from Greg Lockhart, who has a clip of this amp on Dr. Z's Z-28 site. So, I've heard the amp, even if I've never seen it in person. I've been using EL-84 amps, and almost went for a MAZ 18, JR, but thought I'd go for the Fender-style 6V6 sound, for a change.
Goos luck on your new amp!
Texas Jim

Welcome aboard Dave! Youre gonna love that Z28...it has become my "go to" amp for all occasions. Oh, and BTW...when you decide to put some different power tubes in there, make darn sure you get that pin lined up...I learned the hard way and now will be without my favorite amp until the good Dr can get it fixed and back to me

Well - the Z28 arrived in perfect shape. The amp looks like it has hardly been played at all - just about showroom condition!
I can tell it's going to take a bit of time to get used to the amp. It doesn't have quite the clean headroom I was looking for, but it nails that 'just breaking up' country rhythm tone pretty easily. It has plenty of volume though and I just need to spend some quality time trying to get my tone dialed in...
