Well I just ordered my Z-28 head today. Initially I am hoping to pair it up with the 1x12 Weber P12z that is in my 1997 Maz Jr combo(later I would like to buy the 2x10 cabinet).
I am playing primarily blues and I plan on using my Airbrake with it in the smaller clubs.
Does anyone know what wattage on these Weber P12z speakers? Has anyone paired up the Z-28 with one of these speakers?

The first incarnation of what is now the Weber Silver Bell was the P12Z.
Alnico magnet (the "P" designation), and Ted Weber offers them in 15, 30, and 50 watts. I *think* that the P12Z was a 50 watt version, but not sure....
You can get more info on the Silver Bells on Weber's site, and Dr. Z listed those as a favorite Weber model of his on a thread from a few weeks ago..

Well after using the Weber P12z for a week which I thought sounded great, I got a Z 2x10 cabinet. The difference is night and day. The 2x10s are much clearer and provide a more bell like tone, sparkle, and a tighter focus than the P12z that is in my Jr. The P12z is a much darker speaker and doesn't seem to suit the Z28 head as much. Typically my Z28 volume is at 11 o'clock, B at 10:30 and T at noon.
The only thing that I don't like about the 2x10 cabinet is that when I use the Airbrake at bedroom levels (i.e. when my daughter is napping) there seem to be some weird harmonics and overtones. However when I open it up or take off the Airbrake it sounds fine...don't know if my speakers are just breaking in or what ....

The Weber alnico's are pretty dark & compressed, especially the Silver Bell (P12Z or now called the P12S) and Blue Dog (P12B). You either dig that tone or you don't. I've had the alnico and ceramic versions of these speakers and definitely prefer the ceramics for clarity.
