Just curious.
I have a Remedy, but find it a wee bit bright with a Strat. Anyone tried both these amps, and could compare/contrast?
Thanks!

I have both, but I've not done a side-by-side comparison -- yet. I'm hoping to tackle a Monza - MAZ Jr (with bypass mod) gain comparison tomorrow. Time permitting I'll put the Remedy into the mix as well. You're not the only one interested in these two Zs The Remedy is more tonally flexible, as you'd expect with the dual volume controls and full tone stack. I'm a bit surprised you find it bright because it has so much tone shaping ability. What settings are you using with the Strat? What speakers? The Monza can be set to be quite "dark" via adjustments to the tone and drive controls. But I don't know if it is inherently darker than the Remedy. That's something for the comparison testing to sort out.

Strats can be very bright, might be the pickups? Or if you play with the bass volume settings on the Remedy, you should find a nice balance- I mean that is part of why there are the 2 volumes and a tone stack on that sucker.
I would say the Monza (head through a Z-Best) up's the gain compared to the Remedy and has only the one tone knob. But I had no problem getting everything from way too dark to way too bright sounds out of it. Fiddle with the knobs on either the Remedy or the Monza and you will get great sounds. Personally, I am saving up for a Monza...with a brake lite- it is SO LOUD you would not believe it!

C'mon fellas, you asked. Both of those amps can cover tons of sounds, bright to dark, I just thought maybe you gave up to soon tweaking amp controls- The Remedy especially can do dark sounds if you set it that way.

Haha!!
Sorry......I was trying to be funny, not snarky. I appreciate any advice. There's no way to know how experienced we all are.
( Let's just say I've been doing this a LONG time).
cheers,
Jim

No worries. I just got my 3rd Z amp (SRZ-65) and I am still learning and seeking advice all the time. The quest continues...

I am very interested in this topic as well. I am trying to decide which Z I should get to go with my 1x12 cab loaded with a celestion gold. I prefer a darker tone like jimfog and was trying to decide between the monza, remedy, and Z-28. I play mainly classic rock type music. Any more info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

I got my 1 x 10 Monza combo earlier this week from English John's store - it does exactly what it says on the packet. I absolutely love the Remedy/Z best combination, I did a little comparison last night with no obvious outcome other than both are as good as it gets as far as I'm concerned. The portability of the Monza is obviously a huge benefit ( those Z bests are lumps!! ) The Remedy miraculously delivers a huge range of sounds with just the two vol controls. I'm looking forward to hearing Matt Schofield using his new Remedy.

Don't know about the Remedy, but the Monza is a dark amp with a humbucker guitar.

Can't speak to the Remedy, but the voicing of the Monza seems pretty flexible, and changes dramatically as you adjust the attenuation (assuming you have a Brakelite-equipped combo). Much brighter the more attenuation you use. Same thing's true of the Maz 18, in my brief experience. The Monza's voiced to cut through the mix w/ single coils, but w/ the tone knob set at about 9:00 and the tone dialed back a bit on your Strat, it can give you some nice, round semi-clean tones. For me the default setting on the Monza is everything at 11:00, BL on 2, and work my tone and volume knobs on the guitar to get the nuance I'm looking for. A bit of delay or reverb seems to darken up the Monza's tone, too.
