New Monza was just delivered - gotta let it warm up before I plug into it! I'll let you know how it is after I have a chance to play it later tonight. It's a blond 1x10 combo (number 31) with Brake-lite - can't wait to play with it!

At rehearsal the other night, I said to the guys... "Can you imagine what it will sound like after the speaker gets broken in?" Enjoy it Mike!

I just got my Monza head in from Humbuckers. I had to get the Surf Green cause that's all there was at that time. Its retro looking green. Generally I don't like green but I had to have it so I got it anyways. I wanted the head version.
I've got this running into a OS/OB 112 with a Veteran 30 in it. I want to qualify something right off about this amp. It is NOT a bedroom amp! This is the loudest 20 watter I have ever heard. I can't get it to overdrive yet cause I can't put the volume up to get there with certain family members here in the house. Crap! I'm going to need an attenuator to get it in the zone if I'm going to play it in the house. Wow! I did briefly take it there for a second and it sounded phenomenal. I have a DSL50 and a Night Train that will go into overdrive at lower volumes albeit not in their sweet spots. The Monza won't overdrive until enough volume is given. At that point it is loud. Very loud. By the way the cleans with my strat are fine. My NT ran away and hid in the closet.
Hopefully my father-in-law(he lives with us)will go out to breakfast soon and I can let it rip. There is no such thing as low volume play'n with this amp un-attenuated I see that now hehe.
Thanks Doc! I luv the amp! I know how to get this to work for me and I have other cabs to use with it already. That's why I wanted the head version. I just really wasn't ready for that kind of volume out of a 20 watter. Yes this is my first Dr Z amp...

The father-in-law just jumped in the shower. I stretched the Monzas legs for about 10 minutes. I am stoked at the tone of this amp. Its got some great lowend too. Sounds huge! Got the volume to noon, drive to 1 oclock and tone at 1 oclock. Was using my strat with HSS pups. musical feedback happens easily when holding onto notes. Gain is clear, saturation thick and just a pleasing tone whether backed off or revved up.
The NT is 15 watts max. It sounds very boxy compared to my Marshall and the Monza. The Monza is a whole other league and in writing only 5 more watts than the NT.
I have a drawer full of NOS 12AX7's and a set of RFT EL84's that like to break up early. They sound great in the NT. I'll mess with them down the road. Can't wait to play my HH Gold Top Tele through it. The pups are Dimarzios and its all meat. Then I'll try my ESP EC-1000 with EMG 81/60's. I've have another OS/OB 112 with a K100 in it that I can daisy up with the other running both off the 4 ohm tap. This is a naughty amp.
The tolex smells gooooood! My whole room smells like it hehe.

Or better still, you HAVE to buy a Brake Lite or Air Brake unless you can prove you are a) Deaf or b) have no residents who will object Just imagine what the rest of the range sounds like, volume wise, eh?? These are definitely pro amps, not some hot-rodded bedroom specials ;D Enjoy the full richness - and get a Brake Lite! Pete

Welcome aboard, Joe. Pete's right. You gotta have a Brake Lite with the Monza. Even with the attenuator in place it's loud. I like it ;D

Welcome aboard, Joe. Pete's right. You gotta have a Brake Lite with the Monza. Even with the attenuator in place it's loud. I like it ;D It makes me laugh thinking I could play this thing in my room while the house was occupied. I will get the DR Z Airbrake so I can use it on my Marshall too. Also I'm going to change the Veteran 30 out for a Alnico Gold. I wonder how this thing would sound atop a DR Z 410...? ;D Joe

thank joe, he gave me the idea. the sound made my marshall crap its pants LOL! Funny thing is I was pricing the 410 cabs at Humbuckers and fantasizing about having one for the Monza prior to posting. ;D I bet it rips yeah? Poor JTM45 hehe. The Monza's a monster 20 watter! My next buy though is definitely the Airbrake.
