Wow. Had a rehearsal with the Police band I play in, in a studio, so I took the Remedy and got to crank it up thru the Z-Best and my little 1-12 cab. Again, wow, very cool amp. First I plugged my 66 into my 1-12 and strummed for a while just to get that tone in my head that I was used to. Then plugged into the Remedy/Z-Best. A lot more presence and upper mid grind, more aggressive. Fun. It has that plexi sound for sure but at a WAY more friendly volume. With my humbuckers I have very little headroom and can see myself running it somewhere around 9 oclock normal, 11 oclock high for the Police thing and maybe 10 and 12 for classic rock and other cover gigs. Cleans up really nice. Tried it in stereo split by my TTE with the 66 and that was ultra cool. The route 66 was like adding a SUPER normal volume mod to the Remedy adding more warmth and depth. Great sound. The Remedy rocks. Played around with lots of settings, half power, full power, cranked, different tone levels, all sounded good. For the rehearsal, the guy has an Ulbrick 1-12 cab, the same as mine except his is an open back with a modified vintage 30 (some of the bite and upper mid thing tamed.) in an isolation cupboard so I just plugged the Remedy into that, and we had our own headphone mixes. Not a great "live" feel but we wanted to record the rehearsal, so... I ran the Remedy really low like 8-9 oclock normal 10 oclock high, tones on 12 bass, 12 mids, 2 treble. Thru the cans I could still hear it breaking up a little strumming hard so i knocked my guitar volume back to 4!!! Even though this was a very low volume it recorded very well, sounds like a great plexi clean to me. I'll see if I can post a clip soon. If I was to run it like that it would be ultra stage friendly but live I think I will run it much hotter and wind the volume back for cleans from there. The open back speaker and cab probably wasn't the best for the amp either but it sounds nice anyway. That cab incidently sounds awesome with the 66. Half way through the rehearsal, the bass player, who happens to also be a great guitar player (owns a bad cat) says, "lets hear that baby roar" so I turned up the volumes around 12-2 oclock and we fumbled our way through "Black Dog"! ;D ;D All in all the amp is everything I'd hoped it would be. My Set Neck really hits it hard so it gives it up REAL early and hence a friendly volume. I'd love to hear some P-90's through this amp. Next time we rehearse we are just going to play at volume and not record. I'm kinda looking forward to that more as I really didn't get to enjoy the live feel of the Rem as it was locked in a cupboard! ;D I shudder to think how good my producer could make this amp sound on disc. He is a WIZ with guitar sounds. I also can't wait to hear this amp through a 4-12 with greenies. the Z -Best is incredible in it's own right though. Sounds great in my 1-12 also. Very friendly volume, especially on half power. All in all it does the Police thing much better than the 66. Unfortunately, the cover band I regularly play in is have an extended break, so hopefully this Police thing, and the classic rock thing will play out a bit more. I really should get my original band playing again. Sounds like a good time to do it. The Remedy would kill with some of my stuff. Awesome amp Doc, I bet it's even better than that Purple Plexi! I love it when something meets your expectations. Doesn't happen that often.

Well alright! Glad to hear you're enjoying the new amp. I'd be curious on the 66 comparisons. I still jones for another 66 from time to time.

Great report, Jaye.
Remedy sounds fine with P90s. I have a PRS Soapbar SE. It's not my main guitar but I was using it a lot late last year for classic rock/oldies. Sounded terrific through the Remedy and a 1x12. I had to up the volumes to 2 (hi) and 12 (lo/norm) o'clock, a couple notches higher than usual for me, to get this particular axe into a zone I liked, but there was plenty of near clean with the gtr vol rolled back and great push with the gtr vol maxed. The tone knob on the guitar has a nice range, and the Remedy let it all come through.

Ok, I've ripped some MP3's from our rehearsal, so I'll post some if anyone's interested. Just bear in mind this was a REHEARSAL, not a recording session. Everything is one pass, live, with no overdubs and the other boys didn't have vocal mikes as we didn't want spill, (my cab was in an isolation cupboard) so I'm all on my own. Here is Walkin' On The Moon, Remedy clean with CE-1 and TTE. It's the only one I have right now but I can post some more later, especially if you'd like to hear the worst solo of Black Dog ever recorded! ;D www.filefactory.com/file/a20e0fa/n/Track_04.mp3Ok, ripped a few more So Lonely www.filefactory.com/file/a20g05c/n/Track_05.mp3Next To You www.filefactory.com/file/a20g1dc/n/Track_01.mp3Black Dog My voice was fried by then after singing Police tunes all day and I decided to fade out the worst guitar solo ever!!! www.filefactory.com/file/a20g10d/n/black_dog_faded.mp3I should be able to do some plain old clips soon, maybe show some of the differences with the 66 or something.

Well that does it. After hearing "Black Dog" my next Z is going to have to be a Remedy...............after a KT45 of course.
LMAO
"So lonely" took me back to my first year in High School. Ah the Police, I loved them.
Don't be too harsh on yourself Jaye, nice work and good job on the vocals doing the Police thing.

I wish I could hear those, but I can't get through to the actual downloads - filefactory is throwing an ad that crashes all of my browsers here. So I'll have to imagine how good they are...

Steve, I can email it to you. It is just under 5MB. If Jaye approves, I can put it on my server which would have no hoops to jump through to download it.

I am so please you chose the Remedy, and finally landed your second Z amp Jaye. Now, get out the masking tape and Sharpie and return the amp to it's birth name; "Curt"

;D Hey thanks guys, I have no problem with the sending mp3 thing. Can anyone recommend a streaming site? That might make it easier in the future. I haven't played enough yet to get the different scenarios sorted out. For example, the solo to So Lonely, my guitar volume was on 4 but I forgot to turn my neck position volume down so when I switched to it on that solo it was far too hot. I was like "oh bugger"! I'm going to have to find that sweet spot for the Police thing where it is raunchy enough for the rockier/punkier tunes and leads yet cleans up enough for the cleaner stuff. Just a matter of getting to play the amp more. The classic rock stuff is pretty straight forward. Just push the volumes! ;D I loved the 66 and Remedy in stereo thru 2-1x12's. That was a great sound. Hmmm, lot's of experimenting to do. I think now I just need a great clean amp and a p-90 guitar (G-90! ;D) and I'm done. ...maybe a tele too.

All I have to say is - WOW! I sure enjoyed all four of those - you can post as many like those as you want. I was thinking, I have to tell Jaye how great his drummer is, but I want to tell him the same about his bass player, and that singer just rocks, and by the way, that is some FINE guitar playing going on there. Simply extra fine, thank you very much!

Thanks guys, the other two guys are fantastic. The bass player is also a great guitar player and believe it or not, is my front of house guy in my original band. One of those guys who is good at whatever he does musically. The drummer I've known since I was 16. He is pretty incredible. He moved to Sydney, I moved to Melbourne, but now that we're back home here, we are back playing together. Just so there is no confusion, I am the singer as well. It's just a three piece. We are looking at getting a classic rock thing going as well. We have done some gigs before doing that, but it was always unrehearsed and winging it, but we're going to actually learn a gig's worth of old tunes and do that as a seperate thing to the Police thing. Thanks for your comments, thought it might be interesting to hear the Remedy in a completely different format than the normal rocked out thing. I does have that nice plexi type clean. I really dig it. Can't wait to crank it up nasty for some more rock stuff.

Wow!!! That sounded great! I've been waiting anxiously to hear some more Remedy cleans- and they Remedy (or the band) didn't disappoint! Fantastic playing, and there aren't many people on this Earth who can pull off Sting like that. Great job! And Black Dog sold me. I've been wavering between a few different Z amps- I think it's got to be a Remedy for me! Thanks for posting!

Jaye,
Excellent stuff. Can't wait to hear more. Any further comments on Remedy settings on these tunes besides what you posted earlier?
Are you guys doing a fair number of live appearances? Might have to try to get to Hobart for one!

I've been wavering between a few different Z amps- I think it's got to be a Remedy for me! Thanks for posting! The Route 66 does an awesome Black Dog too. Especially with a good boost pedal. It will without the boost pedal but the Remedy is slightly more volume friendly without a pedal. The settings for the Police stuff was very low just to record. I thiink the Remedy actually has a nicer clean with it cranked up and rolled back but I wanted to keep the volume right down for no spill into my vocal mike. I think I was full power but I may have been half with volumes around 8 normal 10 high and tones 12 oclock bass and mids, treble 2 oclock. Ben, the bass player wanted to hear the amp cranked up a little which is why we broke into Black Dog. (I think I was around 10 oclock normal 12 oclock high for that, same tone setting) He ran over after that and said, "Try the JTM45 setting" and moved the dials to about 2 oclock all tones and volumes cranked. I hit a chord and he immediately looked down to the floor but I was plugged straight in. He went "Is that just the amp???" to which I just smiled. He is very impressed with the Rem. The cover band I regularly play in seems to have ended so I'm busy getting this band and my brother who I usually play with is getting another up and running. Basically I have three bands worth of material to learn over the next few weeks. The other band is crying out for a Stangray!!! Lord help me.
