A bunch of live clips of my Rt. 66 through a Marshall 1x12 w/ Celestion V 30 on January 17, 2010. I'd been at NAMM for a half day and went from Anaheim down to San Diego that night to play at the Jumping Turtle with Cathouse Thursday. Nice tone, John. Interesting take on All Along The Watchtower. Were you guys inspired by the Battlestar Galactica version?

Thanks for listening Jan!
I love that show, but we've been doing that song since before the series. Will kind of sets the tone for all of the stuff on the piano and I just play along.
Cheers!

I love that stuff John, great vids (a very nice Honky Tonk Woman), great playing! When you take your lead breaks it cuts through real nice, are you using any kind of boost or just the guitar's volume? Never mind that last question...I seen what looked like a volume pedal

Hey Mark
Thanks a lot!!
You're right, it's the volume pedal.
A couple of the tunes are just the Z and some of them had either a Sparkle Drive or an OCD in front for a little more grit. Boss DD-3 too for a little delay.
Thanks for listening!

John, Your clips almost slipped by me as I just found this today... Anyway, You sound like everyone SHOULD sound in a Gig like that. Simply playing through one of the finest Amplifiers ever made without twiddling around with Pedals, Switches, and Knobs. Guitar plugged STRAIGHT-IN....Nice Job!
I would have liked seeing you solo throughout the entire set, but oh well ;D.
1) How long have you had the Rt.66?
2) Do you ever play other Guitars through it?
3) Have you ever used a different Speaker Cabinet with it? Perhaps a 4x12 or 2x12?
Not that it matters, but a Z 1x12 Convertable Cabinet with a Celestion Gold in it would probably sound great, cause I KNOW it would LOOK Great!
Thanks, Mark

Hey Mark Thanks so much for the kind words! I got the Rt. 66 in Oct. '06. I've used it with my strat, tele, and quite a bit with my 335-which was a great combination until the neck pickup crapped out on that guitar. That guitar isn't getting played now. Well, at some point I've run all my other electrics through it. That amp is great with all of them! I've got a 4x12 w/ vintage 30s in it that I've run it through, but I don't like carrying that one. I don't think I've gigged like that. About 4 days ago I put down a deposit on a 2x12 openback from Kerry Wright. I should have that in about 3 weeks. I'm still undecided about the speakers but I'm leaning towards some celestion heritage 65s. I'm really looking forward to that! We're going to do one more show at the Jumping Turtle and do some more video. Hopefully I'll have the 2x12 by then. Cheers!
