I just picked up a 6545 in Seattle. I was an idiot to sell my last one. The KT side is stock & the 65 side has some mods to it that are very nice. I miss the presence control like the regular SRZ-65, but the mods take it to the promise land. I will always love Z amps & this one is the answer to it all!
Not going to sell this one. And can't wait to record with it in a couple weeks.
I put 5751's in the preamp sockets to tame it a bit. It sounded killer with the 12AX7's, but I like the No fizz factor of the 5751's..

Yeah, the 6545 is an awesome amp. I don't think I'll ever part with mine.
I'm curious what mods were performed on the 65 side on your amp. Not that I want to mod mine, just interested in what tweakers are doing with 65 side.

The mods to the 65 side tighten the low end with different values in the tone stack. It takes it to more of a Plexi/Super Lead than bassman/jtm45. It's hard to explain. I did the ole A/B test with my current SRZ-65 & the SRZ sounds great stock, but no where near the tone with the mods. I usually hate mods. To me the SRZ always sounds a bit scooped (but still good). I'm not an amp tech, but know good tone when I hear it. On top of that I put 5751's in all of the preamp sockets. It's a bit tamed and sweeter. I love Z amps..

dex45 just saw yesterday one 6545 for sale at ebay and from Seattle ( by the way I born near there) with some mods, by any chance it's yours? I just got one in layaway in my local GC, great amps for sure.
