I'll copy and paste this over in the effects section as well.
Alright, I just played two gigs with the COT50 --> Rt.66this past weekend. Played a tele the whole time.
I'm a couple of years late on this pedal, so I'll run the features down for those who don't know:
One knob...jeeeez! Somehow, this pedal is dialed into unity volume no matter where you put that bias knob. All the way CCW, you have no dirt -- clean tone. All the way CW, you get a ripping marshall tone that won't chase the patrons away...again, unity volume is in tact.
The Rt.66 hasn't spit back at any pedal I've put in front of her yet...and perhaps she likes this COT50 the best of any. For my ears, this pedal is voiced very flat in EQ with a slight top end sparkle for cutting through a band mix. The bass is nice and tight. I think my Eternity loses a little bass when compared with the COT50. The dirt has that chewy, gainy marshall tone without getting into crazy distortion territory. One could use this pedal for pretty much any overdrive task -- R&B/Country/Blues/Rock/Alt.Country/Alt.Rock/Fusion/Acid Jazz/whatever.
All the things you like best about your guitar, your pickups, your amp...everything really shines a little brighter with the COT50 -- it doesn't slather a coating of dirt on your tone. You really hear "You", tastefully combined with the COT.
The fun is in how you use your guitar volume knob. There are alot of shaded of overdrive to be had -- and the COT50 cleans up better than most (any?) pedals I've heard. I could play some clean funky 9th chords with the guit. volume rolled back (top end isn't effected at all..great cleans), then roll the volume back up for some dirty solos.
The other pedals on my board are a Red Snapper, Eternity, ZVex Super Duper, OzFx Amp Blaster, and BJF SBEQ. I used the COT50 about 98% of the time for my dirt needs. Didn't use the Eternity at all. Used the Red Snapper some, and it stacks very well with the COT50. I had the SBEQ dialed to add a different, smoother tone to the COT50. Didn't use the ZVex.
So, thanks Rich...now I've gotta start the fund drive for a COT50!! I might start with the ZVex...the Amp Blaster covers my "SHO" style booster needs.
