I just got mine last night. I played it through my Gal. At first I thought, "what's so special about this?" Yeah it sounds good, but did I need to spend my money on this?
Then............................
I clicked the footswitch OFF.
Doing that answered my questions.

the magic is in that footswitch. Really? Mine just turns it on and off. The footswitch is more like the keys to a car, it turns on the magic, or is it in the power toggle? It's probably the tubes, or is it the reverb pan?

I have always felt that someone should try to make it something more than just the best sounding reverb. I don't understand the tech side but I think there is acouple untapped ideas with these reverb units, but everyone keeps making the same but better quality designs.
I like my z-verb it.

What kind of "untapped ideas"? like stereo outs, line out?

Keep thinking about it and think about how standalones work and what they are or at least being really close to being.

they split the signal and one gets the verb and the other stays dry. So, you are very close.
