My Z-28's tone as sitting in a room around christmas time, next to a fireplace with some hot coco. SO WARM

I'm down with that. I think I've enjoyed playing this amp at home by myself more than ANY other amp I've owned. And I've owned a couple of other Z's. If I ever were to do a solo show, where you would usually employ an acoustic, I really think I could pull it off with my Strat and Z-28.

Not a doubt that you could pull it off with a Strat and a 28. Done that very thing, killer sounds at low volume...and just that 28+Strat magic. The acoustic sat on the stand.

My rig for all my shows is my main strat and my z28, I find myself toward the middle of the set saying, "Hmm maybe I should play another strat or my 335, and I always talk myself out of it. My strat has seymour duncan antiquities that were modded and underwound, I have never felt such a great guitar-amp relationship in my life.

For a while I loved the Ghia over the Z-28, in fact I was seriously disappointed by the Z-28. The issue was the speaker cab- the 28 is a bit fussier about set ups than the Ghia, but is now my favourite amp- of all time.
I love the Ghia's detail (not much beats it) but the 28 has that "push!" and unlike the Ghia, on which you adjust the tone knob to make the guitar sound right, the 28's tone knobs can change the character of the amp amazingly and adjust the gain. Gotta say a back pu on a tele for crunch rhythm on the Ghia is an amazing thing though!
The comment about low volume on the Z-28 is right on the money- I've never found another amp that doesn't sound anaemic at low volume, but the Z-28 just sounds fat and rich any way you set it. Brett

Definitely true about the low volume tone, I love it. I played a princeton reverb for a few years, and I almost feel like my z28 is a princeton on steroids, but with the same warmness and detailed sag.
