I've got a Route 66 since I heard the sound clips over Dr.Z's webpage, I love the creamy tone, however, when I buy one home, it does not create any similiar tone even I crank it until fiull volume, anyone know what's going wrong to my Route 66 ? or there does exist some trick to get the same tone as post over the web ?

Make sure you push the tone controls past 12 oclock as they saturate the frequencies in that range. Crank your treble and Bass and there should be plenty of cream...and plenty loud. If not, then check the bias, if it's below 26 it's probably too cold. If it's not loud, you may need new power tubes.

Hello tasweigan, Thanks for your prompt reply, I'll try to figure how to check the bias ( as I never do that ) by the way, if bias is no problem, do you think the point to decide cream drive comes from the treble and bass ? Since I've try many setting in the past before I call for help here, and of course I've tried turn all treble, bass, and volume up to the most, but not the same tone compared with the clips post. By the way, do you have the other experience with the new Gibson relic GA-5 ( the old-day skylark or les paul junior amp in the tweed era ) or the Mini Z ? I think I like the tone color whatever close to that~~ and is there any trick to have a good setting or mod the route 66 to get that tone as well ? Thanks you !

Probably best to take it to a tech and have him re-bias. You may need to put some lower rated power tubes in like the GTkt66hp#5. Having the bias anywhere from 28-38 should be fine depending on how much overdrive and how quickly you want it. If you want to hear mine check out this link from the sounds page. drzamplifiers.proboards41.com/index.cgi?board=soundfiles&action=display&thread=1135038050"My Unwanted Friend" is a good indication of what mine sounds like almost cranked straight in.

Hello tasweigan, Thanks, but from the link you give, I can't find the song "My Unwanted Friend" , I try to access the link below, but there're only three songs that do not include "My Unwanted Friend"~~ do you forget to post that song over ? www.broadjam.com/artists/artistindex.asp?artistID=3906

Oops~~ I just found that sound---"My Unwanted Friend" Do you use Don Grosh straight in 66 ? no any effect ? all set around 2~3 o'clock ? That sounds good, can you tell me what is your bias value ? near 38 side or 28 side ?

One thing can be the point as well, what speaker do you use ? and what cab ?

Not exactly sure but I think it's probably around 36.
Yep, it's straight in, although I hit a boost for that note that hangs and feeds back on it's own.
I'm using a stock Z-Best 2-12. (V30 and G12H30)

Thanks, do you record the songs in the studio with volume knob all the way up or only 2~3 o'clock ? by the way, are you the vocalist as well ? songs all sound great !

You mention "The Abyss is the first single but is pre Dr Z." what does it mean by "pre-Dr.Z" ?

Thanks for the compliment! The amp volume was around 3 Oclock and I just used my guitar volume for different shades of dirt and clean. Yep, singer/songwriter.
By Pre Z I meant I didn't have my Dr Z amp yet and it was recorded with a Marshall JCM 800 (a good one)

Hello tasweigan, what model of the JCM800 you use before Dr.Z ? 2203 or 2204 ? I have JCM 800 as well, but my 800 sounds thin that is not even similiar to any 800 I heard from CD or live. I wonder that is the model difference or again the bias issue ?
