hi, i´m planning to change my z28 head into a combo and was thinking of combining it with a 15 " speaker. perhaps a jbl d130f or a weber california. what do you think about that idea ? i don´need a early breakup, i rather prefer my z28 to stay on the clean side. so far i´ve been playing it through a 2x12" open cabinet with weber blue dog and silver bell alnicos, both 50 w. i have a maz jr. too and the cabinet will stay with the maz, so i need something new for the z28. take care zoppotrump )

I've paired a 15" with the Z28, Ghia, Maz Jr and RxJr. They all sounded great with it. Out of those heads, personally the Z28 and Ghia sounded best to my ears. I have a Weber ceramic but forgot what model but it says Ferro-Max on the sticker and I couldn't make out the small numbers in the cab.
Question... what are you going to do for a cabinet to come up with a 15" combo? I think it's a cool idea and I'm curious.

A lower to mid wattage one works great....It was the first amp that didn't work well with the EMI Big Ben, but it's like 200 watts! 15's are great for guitar...Nice and full and warm. I use them in my EZG 50 and MAZ 38, and it's wonderful.

I have a Emi 15" alnico circa 1970ish from an Acoustic Combo, not an acoustic amp, the amp brand is Acoustic...if you are looking.

hey bluzman, i made a try with a open back cabinet, almost the size of a 2x12" Z-cabinet and the first speaker i tried was a weber california. it sounded very good, but there was a little bit a lack of sparkle in the sound . i really like the metallic snap of new strings but on the other hand i dislike the earpiercing highs. so i bought myself via ebay an old and used jbl d130f and it sounded much more the way i expected it. the bad thing is, theat i have to rebuild the cabinet, because of its resonance frequency. especially when i hit the big low strings there is some sort of a crisp rattle coming from the wood of the cabinet. i´m sorry for using the wrong terminus, i build me a combo the size of a 2x12 z cabinet, in which i installed my z28 head chassis. zoppotrump )

Bluzman, What would you or anyone think of a 15" Jensen Neo with a Ghia/Z-28 or Maz Jr.? It's said to be uncolored and I was thinking most of the Ghia goodness could ooze out. Oughta be pretty loud too!

This has me wondering what a 1 15 ext cab would sound like under either my Z28 112 or MazJr 210 combos? At home I stack the 210 on top of the 112 and run the speakers together using one amp at a time, gives it a nice bigger fuller sound, so a 15" cab under either has me gassing to try it.

115 speaker for a Z-28? I dunno which single speaker is best ... but I do know that an ol' Traynor 2x15 cab will push some air and let ya share your sound with most of the neighbors ... heck, some of the neighbors may even wanna share their opinions about the volume .... ;D ;D

The 15" I have sounds great with all my Z-Amps. I like it best with the Ghia and a Strat or the Z-28 and single coils. It does ok with humbuckers but the note definition isn't as good depending on volume.

When I had my Z28 I borrowed my buddies 15' alnico weber for a jam night a couple of years ago. In a 3 piece situation with a not too heavy bassist it was sweet and full. When I get my EZG I will be seriously considering one for swamp stuff.
Well thats my 2 cents worth anyway.
