???I've been running a GT "Brick" in front of all my pedals diect from my guitar.Getting good results. Easier to get "good" OD from my AC and Zen-plus less tone suck and more of a Effect-less feel. Is "ANYBODY " out there running this box w/ the ES and what are your thoughts on it?

Is "ANYBODY " out there running this box w/ the ES and what are your thoughts on it? I guess I would have to ask . . . Why? Perhaps it's the effects you're running, or some other thing. hmm. I'm asking because, I've never felt the "need" to run any type of preamp in front of my RxES - it just sounds great. I was looking at the link, and can't figure out (maybe I'm just dumb) what the advantage would be for me. No issues with my Zendrive, RC Booster, Hellbilly or Huckleberry - at least none that I can think of. Maybe I'm missing something? tomtheguitarguy

Can you give us an example / explanation of how your sound is different with your effects straight vs with the Brick in the chain? tomtheguitarguy

Guys, Going into the Brick before my chain allows me to lower the ouput levels therby decreasing noise. I have a couple of noisey boxes and this just seems to tax them less and maintain a high signal level ,especially if itss a gig that I'm going wireless on. Thnx for the input. PS- its a wonderful sounding amp either way.

Expanding on what I said about using the GT "Brick" w/ the es. VHT makes a similiar product called the valvulator. It does te same thing except the VHT unit powers up your effects also. The "MAIN" reason one would use the Brick up front is to convert the high impedence signal from your pups to a balances low impedence signal. -Its a Buffer in a basic sense. And since it has a 12ax and a 12 au plus a 6550 for mic use, you can use it as a all-tube clean boost. I a/b'd the setup last night and there IS NO DOUBT that the Brick makes your guitar bigger sounding and also much easier to drive into breakup since you have in effect added an extra gain stage. I beleive Brad Paisley is doing the same thing. I'll have to check , but I think he uses the Brick in front of his guitars and vox. Anyway it works fr me. Make your own judgements, but its worth at least looking into. I would rather have an all-tube analog circuit clean boost than a cheaper stomp box buffer/boost ala' RC Boost the MI Boost n' Buff. I hope this gives some insight as to why I'm running such a configuaraion. BTW- It also has a "passive" twin output that will drive another amp or can be fed driect into the house for clean or acc. stuff. Have a good giggin' weekend everybody. Post it if anybody else tries this config. It really does sound better to me. KW
