so I can across a deal locally today. I skipped my normal run/garage sale/run saturday routine and headed out to see what an old tube guy had left to clear out.
A handful of GE 6L6GC's and another handful of Tong SOl 5881's... and pile of about 15 preamp tubes. I buy them... spending more than I had planned. Turns out... Mullard's made in Holland 7025's are pretty sought after. And in my pile I had 6. So I plugged 'em into both spots (had a GE12AX7 and a GEJAN 5751) in the Ghia and let er rip. They sound pretty damn nice. Added some transparency and touch sensitivity.
Good stuff... just had to share the good fortune since I did not win the lotto last night.

Awesome! Don't you just love finding surprises like that?
I picked up an RCA 12au7 - not even sure where, but it sounds incredibly good in V1 of my MAZ. Less gainy, of course, but full of character. I'm actually on the hunt for another one just like it. It has shiny black plates.
Anyway, congrats on finding a big pile o' tone! :-) Eddie
