Hello,
I've been having some microphonic issues with my Z28 so i exchanged the EF86 with a Dario. It seems to have done the trick.
I was expecting a tonal change as well, but I don't detect much of a difference. The amp sounds just as excellent as it did before, which is fine
Nevertheless I'm interested in finding out what other people's experience / insight has been with this swap. Did you notice a significant difference in the tone of your Z28?
Many Thanks

My Z28 came with an AEL which is a re-branded Mullard & I swapped it out for a Dario from Mike @ KCA. I did however notice a difference in tone. The Dario added a sweeter top end. The AEL was a bit dark for my taste. Just another tip on the microphonics... try some tube dampeners if you have any future issues. I run them on all my amps & I love them.

I use amperex bugle boy 86's because I have them.... However, the stock tube sounds just fine to me as well.
