I love the tones Brad Paisley is getting on his Muddi Gras CMT special & his Mud On The Lens DVD- he's using a Maz38 & RxES on both.
As far as soundclips go (for what they're worth), I like the RxES tone better.
If the Doc made a RxES Jr, I'd order one. But I'm afraid the RxES will be too powerful for me, to play at home. I know I have a hard time attenuating my current amp (50W) down to home levels... it sounds good, but 50W is overkill.
...Just wondering how well the MazJr could "cop" the RxES tones (no overdose of course), and vica-versa. Both amps seem to be "rock-able" with the amount of gain on tap, and of course they both take pedals great.
Would love to hear anyone's "quick comparisons" of the 2, disregarding the power/volume difference, of course.

I'll take a stab here, I have an early RXES head and a 2006 MAZ Jr NR 2x12 w/Blues, both are new to me, I know after trying the RXES with' Texas Heat, G12H, Weber Alnice Blue Dog and the Blues in the MAZ cab that the RXES with the Airbrake on click 2 or 3 through the Alnico Weber Blue is probably the most fun amp I've played yet, sounds killer even attenuated, like a ballsier Ghia...I almost sold the RXES but just could not.
I A/B 'ed these two amps last night, played each amp through the single Alnico Weber blue and the 2x12 blues, both sound GREAT and either would be all I'd need..but I prefer the RXES at any volume, through either speaker set up. No pedals were played through either amp. all testing with 3 Strats. I am amazed at how good the RXES sounds at small gig type levels. I have not yet gigged these set ups so that often changes things, but you said you jam at home, If your lookin' for that Brad thang then I just don't see how you can go wrong with a RXES head, 1x12 Alnico Weber Blue (50 watter) and an AirBrake,,,,plus, you'll never be short on amp if you play out !!
Jr's are very cool as well and I think a Jr NR 2x12 would suit you quite well also.

You're using the Airbrake with the RxES? How does it sound heavily attenuated? I figure a 45W amp would HAVE to be heavily attenuated for a "home" level- I've done it with my 50 watter...

Well I do not know if they are all like this, but MY RXES sounds GREAT attenuated, even at click 3, at 4 ya loose a bit of the dynamics..crazy Right?? It's a lot like the Z/28 I had, it too sounded "better" with the air brake. So yes, this RXES set with the bass near off, mids straight up, treble at 2:00, expand off, lo imput, bright switch up through THIS Weber Alnico 30 watt Blue Dog sounds and even better, FEELS GREAT attenuated at 2, 3 or 4 clicks. This happens to be an early version RXES with the old style control plate and layout FWIW. There's a pic in the Gallery.

Thanks Tele62, great info. Curious- have you tried the "bedroom" setting? I realize that's heavy attenuation, and the amp isn't going to sound the same, just curious as to how well the RxES takes the "bedroom" setting on the Airbrake?

It's actually a fun setting with this amp (bedroom), you loose all dynamics and it turns it into a heavier distorted rock sound but if you just wanna get away and jam it's really a fun sound !
Remember, my tone my not be your tone so YMMV, nearly every Z I've had FLOORED me when I first got them...the RXES follows suit but I just can not stop playing it. I've played more guitar at home since I've gotten the RXES than I have in a year or so, new ideas just pop out, it is inspiring for ME, others may very well fell differently. I had figured EL84 amps just were not for me but wanted to try the RXES, I'm glad I did.
Again, you can't go wrong with a Jr, especially for home playing, more reasonable $$ and power plus you don't have the extra expense of the airbrake, with the RXES you will absolutely NEED an Airbrake IMO.
Best of luck and Keep pickin', Curt
