I just received a note from Grant at Mass Street - my black-on-black RxES head shipped from Dr. Z on Wednesday! I should have it in my hands by the end of next week. Plus, my Weber Silver Bell and Blue Dog (both 50w Alnicos) should be here on Tuesday.
Next week will be incredible ;D.
I'll post my experiences with the new setup, and I plan on rolling some of my tubes in V1 and posting those results too. I'll include both NOS (Mullard, 10m Mullard, RCA, RFT, Tesla, JAN GE...maybe Tungsram if it gets here in time) and current production (JJ ECC83S, JJ ECC803S, GT 12AX7-M, Electro-Harmonix, Sovtek 12AX7LPS, Ruby 7025SS, Chinese 12AX7).

Hey Mike, you are in for a treat! I have the same amp and speakers. I originally got the cab with the greenbacks but ordered a second cab with the Webers, and man do they sing. AND....you couldn't have picked a nicer bunch of guys than Mass Street Music. I started with them buying thru Chris, and now that he's back in KC Grant does all my deals. Congrats!

Yeah, I'm really anxious to try this. I really went on a whim with the RxES...I've never played one and just went with Grant's recommendation after talking about what I liked about the other Z's and what more/less I needed. You're right - the guys there have been great to work with. While I'm there I may have to pick up a Cornish Cable or two, they do sound killer. There's a reason the guys there swear by them .

Will do. Hopefully my perpetual drool won't mess with the camera lens while I'm trying to take pics .

You and me both ;D. Even though the RxES is right around the door, I'm still thinking about the Z28 and Carmen Ghia...which is not a good thing.
What Z's do you have Bill? Great tunes on your site, by the way. I dig the classic swing jazz/blues vibe.

....almost is right. I just ordered a RxES last week from the guys at Fat Sound. Cant wait. I have an Avatar 4x10 closed back cab with a variety of Webers. 2 - 10A125 on top 1 - 10F150T & 1 - 10F150P on the bottom I based my decision on this forum. Vacillated between the Mazarati, Rt.66, and the Rx.....5 to 6 more weeks.

I tried the Airbrake and didn't like the sound.
I've got some quality pedals (Xotic AC,RC; Maxxon analog delay, Analog Man chorus, George L cables) that should be compatible with the RX. Playing an amp with ample headroom has a sound all it's own. You get lots of string fidelity and fat bottom that is totally different from an overdriven clipped signal. The Z has both capabilities. Can't wait.
