Just swapped a couple of Celestion 10" Greenbacks into my Z28 combo. They sound real nice... woody, reedy tone! They give up the goods a bit sooner than the Z 10's & are bit more Fendery to my ear. The swap shaved off quite a bit of weight as well... these speakers are light. My back is thanking me!

I just put a greenie in my 28 1-12, it is quite a different beast than the RedFang. I wanted to see what everyone was excited about with this speaker in the 28. I don;t not like it, but it is a way different sound than the RF for sure.

So I wonder how the single greenie 10" sounds in the little mini Z-28 combo, like the one at Z-Fest?

Greenback 12 is my fav speaker for the Z28 thus far, and I've swapped about 6 different types of speakers since I got it.
Tried the greenback second, and came back to it after all the others.

I think I am going back to the Fang. I like the GB but I love the Fang. to me, the GB is just not as "alive" sounding or as sweet. Not bashing the GB at all, just like the Fang better. I have tried so far, Tonker, Fang, G12H, GB, Vin30, and a couple others that I can;t remember.

The greenback is good in just about any amp. Having 2 in your Z28 in the 10 version must sound fantastic. Have to admit, I've gotten more tonal pleasure from them, than any other speaker I've owned so far...not overly bassy, strong mids, high frequency roll off, not so dang loud as to cause ear fatigue. When doc started putting them in the Z28 combo, he was on to something!
My DC30 has one and a G12H, and I always mic the greenback.

ripple, if you get a Fang know they take some breakin time, perhaps more than most.. I just played the crap out of mine and then WOW there it was......I found it dry, and sorta flat sounding at first. After about a month of playing it all of a sudden came alive....sounds killer now...with my 28 and my 38.... If you buy one and don;t like it, I will buy it off you...I think ZZounds has them for 149-159 free shipping... I have made this offer to others before however, sigh, no one wants to sell them after they get them broken in....
