Hi guys, after reading some of the posts, I am thinking about returning my Z-best and getting a open back cabinet with the weber bluedogs/silverbell combination? Do you guys think I should do it?

Don't tell anybody, but I like the sound of open backed cabinets better than closed backs. Shhhh. It'll be our little secret. I hope you PM Madison and grab that one he's got. It's easier on your back, too.

I definitely like the sound of my RxES 2x12 combo over the Z-Best. I didn't always think that way - when I first got my Z-Best, I loved it - it sounded so much nicer than other combo amps that I had. But then I got the Z 2x10 combo and the room just filled up so much more - and I missed that when playing with the Z-Best, which is why when I got the RxES, I opted for the combo.
So no, you're not crazy. Unless I am too.

The Z-Best is a long throw cabinet, and if you're backed right up against it, you're really not hearing it... before you get rid of it, you might let someone else play it while you go out in the middle of the room. If you can get 8-10' in front of it or put a little tilt to it you'll hear quite a bit more of it...
I knew once I heard Grissom play mine in a small auditorium that I was never giving it up <GRIN>

Ya'll can't have Madisons cab cause I got it... ;D Arun... I'd HIGHLY recommend an open back cab now after using Madisons... but I'd try an KEEP the closed back too... I love both of em and the Z-best for the reasons described above... it IS long throw and on a larger stage you may need it... if you have both you really have the best of both worlds in 2x12's... ( if you ever play outside I think I'd like to have the Z-best) I'm gonna run both of mine together with a Maz 38 or Prescription and the Stingray... I guess if i had to have only one the open back is lighter... but mine is wired at 16 ohm and also doesn't seem to be quite as LOUD either... Jason

Thanks guys for all the help. I have a open back cab on order right now. The Doc has been having some troubles getting any new webers in and is not sure if he will be able to offer them anymore. I think weber has moved to a new facility and has had to slow production down due to the move. Cross my fingers.
