After a long wait(for me anyways)I finally picked up my RXES head and zbest cab today in Black with salt and pepper grill. I tried it out about 2 months ago and it blew me away. It also haunted me for the past two months. I guess it's that feeling you get when play that guitar that feels like it was made for you. This amp feels like it becomes apart of my musical expression. I tried to unload my Roccaforte HG100 but could not wait and I decided to trade it in for the RXES on Saturday. I could not be happier. I play a lot of different styles up here in Edmonton, anywhere from Alt. Rock/country to Jazz to heavy funk and the RXES easily handles all these styles with a huge helping of mojo. I LOVE THIS AMP! Whoa I got to gain some composure here, getting a little excited. I am having some troubles with some tube/noise issues and hopefully Myles can help me troubleshoot. I am sure it has more to do with the fact that the store I bought it from uses UPS exclusively which might have contributed to my problem right now. Anyway I thought I would take what is every RXES owner's right and proudly declare my ownership of such a beautiful amplifier, and to say, I am proud to be apart of such a great community here on this forum. ;D Peace to all. Arun P.S. I think a Stingray is next on my list!

Thanks Madison! To be honest it was reading some of your posts that convinced me to try one out. I knew that Long & McQuade Music here in Edmonton carried some Dr.Z stuff, but I didn't know that they would actually have a RXES in stock. I guess it was meant to be. ;D So what I am saying is good karma for you. I'll put up a pic soon of the new rig.

After months of tweaking, I've found I prefer to plug into the low gain input with the amp volume around noon or a little above. This gives some beautifully clean tone. Stepping on the overdose drives the gain and boost, I've A/B'd my RC Booster (great pedal), but it simply is not as transparent as the overdose, no surprise there really. A Boss CS-3 comp (my personal fav and I've had them ALL) works excellent with this setup...leave it off it you want more dynamic range, kick it in for country punch & squish. I've also put an AD 9 analog delay on the board for a touch of slapback. Oh, and the Zendrive is on the board too. Lots of ground can be covered with this setup. Have fun with it, you got a great amp!

I've got a wierd "Rattle" sounds like metal and glass vibrating.

I have never really tried compressors of any sort before. I should check them out. I think the Rc booster is great especially with my 66 deluxe reverb, but the overdose is a totally different animal. I think the name is quite apt.

Hey Chirpy72, I am getting a weird buzz or static sound when I play the octave E harmonic on the low e string, as well as the e and d on the a string. It is more pronounced on the octave E harmonic though and seems to get worse if I play harder. You can also hear a tube vibrating at the same time as when the static hits. That's why I am thinking it is a tube know. I will be talking to Myles this evening hopefully so I will let you know what happens. I am going to go back to the store I bought it from and sit with the tech and swap the 12ax7s out and hope it is that and not the EF86 that has gone sour. Cross my fingers. Though I am thinking some NOS glass wouldn't be a bad idea.

Aruntang, I have had stuff like that happen more times than I can count. For me, most of the time it's something else in the room resonating. I go nuts trying to find the cause, then moving the amp to another room solves the problem. I have also had similar noises caused by bad EL84 tubes, bad rectifier tubes, and the speaker covers on my Celestion Blues. The last noise to drive me nuts was traced to my Fulltone Tube Tape Echo which was sitting on top of my amp. If you don't tighten down those little thumb screws the metal cover rattles like crazy on certain notes!
