I recently bought a used original Prescription. I am trying to find out more information about the two toggle switches on the front.
I've read on the website that the three way is brightness and the other is expand. I've played all the combinations and I can hear differences in sound. I'm really looking for a more technical answer.
I'd also like to add that I love this amp. I am very glad a friend of mine turned me on to it.

Well let's see what I remember about that OLD design.
The Bright switch is a Three position switch, pos.1 is set for single coils, pos 3 for humbuckers , and pos 2 or center is a detent no bright cap, this works with the first input tube.
The Expand is a MID boost working with the second stage or tube.
Can't explain why you don't hear any differance, it is a used amp so who knows what handy work was done by the previous owner.

Thanks Dr.Z for the explanation.
I CAN hear differences when I play in different positions. I was just curious as to what was happening electronically.
Finally, is position 1 when the switch is flipped down, or up?
