I finally got the opportunity to play through the GT w/ some volume. ;D What an amazing amplifier! I had the Tone at 12:00 and the Volume at/between 2:00 - 3:00. She was Air Braked, of course, at 2 by the end of the night. I started her out on 4 and worked my way up as we got into it. The GT is extremely touch-sensitive. Hit the strings hard w/ the guitar volume up, and you get a very smooth overdrive. I wouldn't call it distortion. It has this amazing singing sustain. No need for an OD pedal w/ this amp! Roll back the guitar's volume knob, and the cleans are impressive. I was surprised at how clean this amp can get. Everything I've read on here indicated that it was difficult to have "cleans" w/ the Volume much over 10:00. At close to 3:00 and a simple twist of the guitar's vol knob brought some nice cleans. I was using my stock American Standard Strat, so the s/c pups weren't driving the amp too hard. I didn't take a 'bucker equipped guitar as I've been enamored at how the strat sounds through the GT. I'll have to give Guild or Charvell a shot on the next one. This thing isn't at all what I expected... It's better!

That didn't help my GAS level. The one experience I had playing the GT with a full band was incredible. The volume was at 3:00 and it sang. That amp was a proto type so I'm not sure if it was as hot as the production model but it was sweet.

I took the hot 'bucker equipped Charvel this past Wednesday to band practice. Whoa, did that make the GT scream! I remember Steve (benttop) writing something about the infinite sustain/feedback this thing has. The 'buckers really emphasized that. You can hold a note, and it will just ring and ring and ring... I kept the Vol at 3:00, but I had to roll back on the Tone some (about 10:00) as these 'buckers are kind of dark. Even w/ the hot pups, the GT cleaned up real well w/ rolling the guitar volume knob back. I can't wait to try it w/ the Vin 30 equipped 1X12 Convertible Cab I have coming in next week. This amp amazes me.

I've been using the GT for the past few weeks w/ the Z 1X12 Convertible Cab and a Strat. I'm really, really digging the tones I'm getting (and the 1X12's much easier to load in and out of vehicles and venues). I've been running it w/ the Tone at about 10:30 and Volume at 12:00. I step on the right side of a BB+ to get a little "more" when I need it (I keep saying the GT isn't the "flame thrower" that it's been called... at least not w/ single coils ;D). Wednesday night, we were working on some originals, and I was trying to come up w/ some hooky-solo stuff. My BB+ wasn't giving me what I wanted for some reason. It was compressing too much or something. After messing w/ the pedal for a little while and not getting what I wanted, I took it out of the chain and cranked the Volume on the amp to about 4:00. That did the trick! Woo Wee did I have some "stuff" there! Of course, I had it all Air Braked so as not to jeopardize the safety of innocent by-standers!

Oh yeah, 4 o'clock on the GT is bleeding eye sockets without an Airbrake.
