Now keep in mind the following is just my opinion about the Mini.
The Mini is what it is, one knob, two tubes, one speaker, nothing more, nothing less. Simplicity is it's forte and it's beauty. I went down the road of speaker experimentation with the Mini only to find out the Doc got it right the first time. I've seen some mods out there, but sheeesh it's sort of a "novelty" amp, a giggle and wail type of thing. Some folks are always trying to turn it into somethings it's not. Given the fact that it is currently not offered from Z, any mods will ruin it's value. Somethings are just better off left alone IMHO.

True.......but I'm not worry about resale value(I never ever sell anything ;D) I just want the chance to experiment with 12" speakers. I just wanted to know if it would harm the amp in any way? I agree with you, this is the perfect speaker for it, but somethings I want to practice some metal riffs with my Tri-Metal and the 8" speaker sorta' farts out and I have to fire up the big amp(100watts is a bit much for my apartment).

I would just get an ext. cab with a 12" and just use the Mini as a "head" (disconnecting the 8").

I say go for it as long as you are able to do a clean job. It will make the amp more flexible. Just remember to never use both outputs at the same time.

you can use an 8 ohm cab with the Mini at 4 ohms.

you can use an 8 ohm cab with the Mini at 4 ohms. How would that effect the transformer/tubes?

I've always read it's OK to go up one step on the cab ohms, you just can't go lower.
