Sorry that I have not been around as much as usual ... lots of stuff going on (mostly goofing off shooting) ;D and running around. I generally post a lot of what I am up to or where I am on facebook these days so when I fall off the map for a while check there.
Just a quick note for folks looking to make their amp a bit more agressive if the phase inverter is a 12AX7.....
I have been doing some tube selection for some amp folks and in the process of testing a hundred plus tubes I came up with 9 JJ ECC803S long plate tubes that are higher gain than spec. These can be microphonic in front ends but they are pretty amazing phase inverters.
I only have nine of these ... but if anybody is interested in buying any of them drop me a note and I will put you in contact with the guy that can probably sell them to you. I think with the amount of time in finding these and the fact they were traced, tested for plate current, transconductance, true gain in circuit and plate resistance they will probably go for about $25 each.
When I was at GT for a half a dozen years they had their "MHG" (Marshall High Gain) kits they sold as a GT product that I developed after Aspen learned some of what I do for my blueprinting clients. This takes things a few steps further.
These are what I use in Carl Verheyen's SRZ-65s and Chad Weaver (Brad Paisley) have selections of my phase inverters as well.
If you want to hear what an SRZ sounds like that has been blueprinted ....
