I have a 2 X 12 Celestion Blue open back Z cab. Would be okay with my new RT 66 when it gets here? Should I swap out one of the blues? Thanks for time.

It should sound fine. Perhaps a little midrange heavy. If you get swap out fever, I'd try a G12H 30. Less midrange, more high end and thumpin' bottom.

+1 for the G12H 30. Great speaker for the 66. I use it alone or with a Blue.

I use my 66 with one G12K-100 and there is plenty of midrange. Would this not be a good match with the 66?

+1 on the G12H30 I just got a 1x12 Avatar wide cab with a Hellatone 60 ( aged G12h30) and it sounds great! I'm running it with my Mesa Theil cab with a C90 but I want to replace that with a Vin30 or a Greenback...

I run a blue for low volume (slightly more warm tone) and a blue with greenback on occasion, but mostly just the gold. All in open back avatar cabs.

I don't know about taming the mids, but Z's 10's are right on the money. Route 66 and Z 4x10 is Doc's Secret weapon...... Seriously!!

I bet those blues will sound awesome.
I used a g12-65 for a long time w/ my Route 66. I switched to a 30 watt greenback and, never looked back.

I'm a big fan of G12-65's mixed with G12H's or G12M's.
Other great speakers IMHO are the Weber 12A150A's used in the RE 57 tweed twins. For a more vintage clear brighter bell tone, but don't let that discourage you they are powerful grinders too.

The C Blue has tons of high end definition and a relatively weak and soft bass especially in an open back cab. So, swapping one out is not a bad idea. You want a speaker with a big punchy bass and still have plenty highs to balance the darker sound of the Route 66. I think the G12H30, the Tone Tubby ceramic 12, or the Eminence Tonker would all fit the bill with that cab/amp.
If you make a swap could you post an audio/video clip?
