G.A.S. is a pain, ain't it? I was turned on to the Mini by the sound clips on the Z site. I totally dug it for perhaps practices, recording, and of course, tone! So I added the Mini to my list of Z's to own (along with a SRZ-65 and a Carmen Ghia). Lo and behold, a Mini pops up on eBay at around noon this Saturday. I bought it before the auction saw Sunday! I knew it wasn't going to last an entire day on the 'Bay . It will make life a little easier, because lugging around my KT-45 combo in it's ATA case by myself is not only difficult, it's painful! (I need some roadies lol) I can't wait to put the Mini through the paces, since my 45 is currently getting retubed. I second the notion for a Blonde Mini, to match my other Z. Maybe I could get it re-tolexed by Z? Did I mention the tone?

You'll love the Mini, it's a great little amp. You should hear the tone get better the more you play it. That Weber speaker needs to break in some.

Mine arrived last week, and keeps getting better and better. If you want to have a lot of fun, turn it all the way up run a cord out of the room, close the door and do your thing. I had to open the door to make sure the tone-fairy hadn't replaced my Mini with a Marshall stack. I love this amp!

turn it all the way up run a cord out of the room, close the door and do your thing. I do something very similar. I put my Mini in our walk in closet, close the door & play. I love it but my wife sometimes gets annoyed with the volume. I have to admit, the Mini is LOUD for such a small amp.

Buy one soon. Who knows what the price will be like since they have been discontinued.

I just got my Mini in, and I believe something is wrong with it. The bass is very buzzy and flatulent, and the top B and E strings sound attenuated. It sounds like the speaker is busted. Anybody have a similar problem?

Hook it up to another speaker and see how it sounds. O, the perils of Ebay!

skydog...does it happen when the volume knob is lower, between about 10 o'clock to 1 o'clock? If so, this is the same thing I experienced with my Mini Z. It sounds incredible when cranked up but the bass in the medium breakup range is flubby. I sold mine because of this..I tend to play in that medium breakup range though...for those who play with a more distorted sound a lot the Mini really does sound incredible. 3 o'clock baby! I think it is just the nature of the amp not that you got a bad one, although checking the tubes and speaker would always be good to rule it out.

The Mini has some interesting traits. To me it sounds like a mix of overdriven Marshall & a fuzz. The Mini is very sensitive to tone & volume changes. Turn those knobs a bit and see what you come up with. I noticed that my Mini sounded better after I changed out my pickups. Needless to say it wasn't the Mini that was mushy, it was the pups. That was my experience.

At first it all sounded pretty good, but there is some harsh crackley like sounds that came when playing the 6th string, particularly power chords. Chording with the base on the 5th string did not have this problem.
To make sure it wasn't the preamp tube, I threw in a NOS Telsa ECC83, and I believe it was worse. The highs also had this strange thing happening on the 1st and 2nd strings. They also had the crackley sound, but also the volume was lower than on the other strings, notably so (and the way my pickups are set, there is always plenty of treble). It was very odd, un-amplike.
These issues persisted throughout the volume range on the amp. I dropped it off with my tech, who is still trying to fix the little bug in my KT-45

I talked with my amp guy and after running through another cab we were both convinced the voice coil of the Weber is shot. It sounds nothing like any clip I have heard; there is no definition and there is a crackily sound at all volumes. It also doesn't compress or sustain too well. So I'll replace the speaker, see how it goes.
Does anybody know Z's warrenty policy? And does anyone know the exact model of the Weber?

595, so just under new price. The funny thing is at first my amp tech thought it sounded good, or that it was supposed to sound that way. I wasn't convinced.....
