I am in search of a good cost effective solution to adding some 'verb to my Galaxie.
The Z-Verb is out, too much. I found a true spring analog unit from Van Amps called Sole-Mate. Unfortunately they are $285 + S&H which makes it a bit too much. I'd love to have a true reverb tank but everybody wants a kidney for them.
Anybody using a Galaxie have a good solution? I don't like pedals but would compromise.

I don't have a Galaxie, but as for reverb I really like the one in my Line6 m13. I think it is the same that is in their Verbzilla pedal, so that might be an option.

I have heard good things about Digitech's Hardwire Reverb pedal. $149 is a bit more in my price range.
If I didn't plop down $300 for a nice travel case for the amp I'd have the Sole-Mate reverb unit but money is tight right now with the economy - obviously.

Has anybody thought about buying a 2 or 3 spring reverb tank and mounting it inside the Galaxie chassis or is it even possible? I found some good reverb tanks that are cheap though I don't have a clue how they are wired up. www.mojotone.com/products.asp?id=45003

I found some good reverb tanks that are cheap though I don't have a clue how they are wired up. www.mojotone.com/products.asp?id=45003I've seen a few amps out there with external reverb units (tank and driver circuit aka reverb amp). Usually the reverb amp unit is attached to one of the sides and the tank sits on the bottom but if you've got a head only I don't think there's enough room for a tank and driver circuit. That said, the vanamps unit (tank and driver) is not that large and the Galaxie has a 110 plug...

a good reverb for the money is the Electroharmonix Holy Grail. s/b able to pick one up for under $100 and they're small too. The Soul mate is nice but it's a large box. The Dr. Scientist reverberator is also very nice but they're minimum $350. I've owned all 3, and really the holy grail is the best tone for the $$.

Maybe the Weber "Add-a-Verb" I can't seem to find any info about that. Have a link?

Thanks for the link. Not sure what I'll do. I'll probably not get any 'verb for a while. Just finished up my Les Paul now getting ready to re-build my Strat - new pots, new 5-way, new cap, new wiring, new pups, this crap gets expensive. I've got everything picked out, now just have to wait till payday. Fralin Blues Special pups and RS Guitarworks vintage kit. Hopefully it'll make my Strat sound less "thin" and give it more thickness and body to the sound.

Fralin Blues are great. I also like Duncan Quarter Pounders for thick Strat tones. Plus they can grind more like P90 dirt.

Back to topic.
I love the clarity of my Galaxie without reverb. Someday I'm sure I will pick up a Z-Verb.

I'd love a set of Dave Stephen's 59 pickups but they are a bit pricey and there is an 9-12 week wait - and I am about the most impatient person on the planet I am going to wire everything up the "vintage" style and lose that retarded S1 switch. I can't stand it. I honestly wish I would of got the Am Standard instead of the Am Deluxe since it has no S1. Though I got my 09 Am Deluxe Strat brand new with the new style hardshell case for $950, I can't complain much.

I've used the Digitech Hardwire w/ my Galaxie for a while now, and really like the flexibility of it. The Holy Grail does have a better spring reverb sound than the Hardwire, but the options and packaging of the hardwire make it a more attractive pedal all around.
I now have a Z-verb, which I will probably use more, but the Hardwire makes a nice substitute for when you want a smaller rig.

I love my T-Rex Room Mate in front of every Z I have. Not for the distorted stuff, as reverb never works well before distortion, but for cleans I love that pedal. It's always on.

I wonder if an effects loop is possible to have added to the amp. Any ideas?

The new Fender pedal reverb is very good. If you like a Fender type verb, I also use and like the Lee Jackson Mr. Springy. It's a little more understated....quieter too.

I ended up with the Van Amps SoleMate tank. It adds a ton of sparkle to the amp, makes me want to keep the amp!
