I just bought this last week on Ebay. The previous owner said it is mahogany, but I've never seen mahogany like this. Any wood experts out there? This is the only Carmen Ghia I've ever seen with a wood panel. Is this pretty rare?

Doesn't look like mahogany, I agree. Could be something like maple stained, or an exotic. If it's original, doc might remember it. Nice looking amp in any case. Sound good?

Yeah maple (or now that I look a little closer birch-it can get a bit of flame also), stained. Can you get a close up of the grain?

Stained Flame Maple. The Doc offers the wood panels for an upcharge. I considered a wood panel, but if I had an amp that pretty, no one would ever be impressed with my playing. I wish you well on that one.

I once saw a Bosendorfer piano that looked like that. It was described as African Mahogany. FWIW
