Hi, My friend is interested in selling his Black Mazerati 112 Combo Amplifier. He says it is in immaculate condition. How much can he expect to get for this amp?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I just purchased a used one today from Guitar Center. It has a vintage altec 417B speaker in it. Sounds good but not enough volume. Could be the speaker is not very efficient. I don't know but am looking for recommendations for a replacement speaker. I have a Celestion RELIC 30 I might try. How much should you spend? As little as possible but you'll never get hurt if you don't go over $12OO.

Altecs are only average in efficiency and the aluminum dust cover is not real friendly to pedals, I have 4 of them so I am very familiar with that speaker. Bluzsteel is a cool cat and knows whereof he speaks so that's good advice!

They are alnico and they have a more neutral sound than JBLs which are a bit honky. The Altec designs were reportedly James B. Lansing's preferred speaker. The Altec has a definite ping to the highs which can be nice, depends on what you want. I would say they are less efficient than the JBL or EV and mine have a kind of wooly/muddy low end. Supposed to be Santana's favorite speaker at least until he got Tone Tubbies but a Mark III Boogie on 7 would be loud enough overpower the ping but I don't thank many of us are playing that loud. I have one blown one and may try a Tone Tubbie cone in it someday but that's a very low priority. I really should just sell them all but I hate the shipping ordeal.
