Don't know about the combo, but I play mine thru a Z 4x10 cab. Huge sounding, the 4x10's add about 3db accorcding to Doc. Gives more clean volume if you want it. the bottom is huge and the od is just more. No noticeable speaker break up. I have a 2x12 cab with a pair of golds and the 4x10 cab with the 28 sounds better to me. I really love this rig!! ArnieZ

I was really impressed with the complexity of the tones. Just guitar to amp was great. I played a Hamer Newport through a Green Z28 4x10. Just really smooth gain. Volume was great and it wouldn't chase anyone off from the shear volume. Classy clean with just the Volume not on the guitar. I would have to mess with OD pedals for a little more boost but I definetly had an eye opening experiance. I used to have another brands 4x10 from the early 70's and this amp was what I thought that should have sounded and better. I was completely impressed with the tone.

I had a Z28 4X10 combo for about a year. It took some trials to get a good EF-86 that would not be sympathetic to the cabinet, but once I did it was bliss. I loved the fullness - never in your face or icepick. It was unbelievable playing slide with a Nocaster, volume cranked. I also used to put a Fender type reverb tank on top of it, which really sounded great. The front end of an amp doesn't get any better. It was also great for outdoor gigs. I finally sold it because it was so much to carry. I will eventually get a head and run it though my 2X10 Ghia, but ideally a seperate 4X10 cabinet. I can't say enough good things about the Z-28.
