Where can I get replacement tolex for a Dr Z cab? I need the black tolex as some idiot burnt some of my cab in a mini fire gig accident. Also, what's the best speaker for a Carmen for rock/creamy clean sound? I'm thinking of swapping mine out (a blue label fender?!?). I was looking at The Eminence Swamp Thang, any suggestions?

I've got a Swamp Thang in my Maz Sr. and really like it. It's a BIG, thick sounding speaker. The mids are slightly scooped and the low end is fat & tight. This speaker stays very clean, with little to no break up at fairly loud volumes. Very American sounding. It reminds me of an EV with a smoother top end. I use a Tonker in an extension cab that I also like. It has a slightly chimey (British) top end with the mids being a bit forward. Tight, controlled low end, but not quite as low as the Swamp Thang. This speaker also stays very clean, with little to no break up at fairly loud volumes. One thing I really love about both of these is that there isn't the problem with ghost notes that I get with Celestion V30s or G12Hs. Although the Tonker has a British vibe, it won't get you into the Chimey/Vox sound if you are interested in that. These speakers use thicker cones, and are thick sounding with a little stiffness. They don't quite breath as much as some Celestions, but they still retain excellent clarity. I guess one speaker can't be all things. All & all, I'm very satisfied with both and think they're a steal for the money. Emi hit a home run with these! Mojo Musical Supply has the red Marshall Elephant Tolex and the old blond Fender "Rough" Tolex. I believe Z uses this same Tolex on some of his amps. Shoot Z an email about it. He's really good about answering questions. I've been buying from Mojo for the past 13 years and have been very pleased with them.
