I am fortunate to be in a position to get a Z28 ;D. I play a Strat with Texas Specials and I am wondering if I should go with the 2x10 or a 1x12. I imagine both will sound great, however, back when I played a Peavey Classic (obviously not in a league with the Z) the 10's sounded better than the 12's with a Strat. Any opinions appreciated!

I love the 1x12, but I have not played a 2x10. I have never been big on 10's but with this amp it might work. I think Joel has had both, we have to wait for him to give a more well rounded opinion.

Voted for the 210. For me, and for the sounds I make, it is a great combination. Plenty of bottom end, and some really nice highs. That said, I also have a 112 Z cab that matches up well with the '28 (and the Ghia, too). Currently I am using a bunch of Super Sports from Ernie Ball Music Man guitars. And, have also used Teles, Strats, LPS and 335 guitars with the Z28 w 210 cab. Pedal wise? Flying Dragon, J-Drive and Sole Pressure get rotated into the mix fairly often. No complaints from me .... but maybe from a coupla the neighbors for how I play ;D cheers always, eh Joel

Z 10's with the 28 really push some air. It gets the point across.

I don't think you can make a bad choice. I've got a 2x10 convertible Z cab and an open back 1x12 Z cab, and the Z28 sounds great with humbuckers or strats through either of those cabs. If you prefer 10's in general, go with the 10's. One thing for sure though, the lows will be way tighter on the Z28 than they were with your Peavey, which will make the 1x12 sound better than it did in the Classic. I guess that doesn't help much, does it!

Now I've got the Z-28 4x10 combo - sounds mighty nice. (not to throw gas on the fire or anything)

28 would sound good with a comb and toilet paper.... get whatever you like, you cannot go wrong. However, speaker choice rather than the configuration will make a large difference in your sound. Your milage of course may vary.

I didn't vote because I haven't played through a 2x10 cabinet before. I have played several 1x12 combinations through it, and I am extremely happy with all of them. If I were to vote, then it'd be the 1x12.

I've had both combo's and I prefer the 1x12. Plus I'm always tinkering, and with a 1x12 you can try all kinds of different speakers very easily.

I have a 2 x 10, love the low end with the ability to scream through a mix, really sounds huge!

I loved a single greenback with mine. Strats,Teles and Les Pauls all sounded amazing. I really miss mine.
