I am thinking about buying a mini for practicing with my band. Not for bedroom wankin use...I don't do that....Will a mini thru a 1 x 12 cab hang with a 4 piece blues band (w/drummer) volume-wise for practicing not gigging??? I gig w/ a maz Jr NR...

If you only need a dirt sound, yes. I actually played a rock gig with my mini combo miked in a room over 200 people and it sounded a bit thin on stage but fantastic out front, but I could hear it fine. I often rehearsed with it and could always hear it.

Unless you guys are *really* polite, I doubt it.
I used to use my Mini combo to jam with a drummer & bass player, but the minute people got even a little enthusiastic, forget it. Likewise, I brought it to an outdoor gig, where it was miced. Sounded great out front, but lost onstage.
Granted, mine was the combo with the 8" speaker, but still...
YMMV, of course.

I picked up a Mini-Z head about 3 weeks ago. When I tried it out at the guys house, it was hooked up to a Z - 2x10 cabinet. He said his favorite setting was volume at 60 to 70% with the attenuator on two. It was punchy but still at a comfortable "living room" volume. When I got home, I hooked it to the two 12-inch Celestion Blues in my Maz 38 and at the same settings, my 3 year old daughter was holding her hands over her ears and saying "ouch, daddy". That's when I started thinking, "man, I could gig with this thing!!!".
I took it to rehearsal last week and ran it through the 2x12 (at 4 ohms) and with the attenuator on zero, it was way too loud. On one, it was still a bit loud but two was too quiet, so I settled on Attenuator-1 with the volume at about 2 o'clock. It was still a bit more than I needed but if I backed the volume off any further, it was too clean (I'm playing mostly classic rock).
I can't say exactly how this would translate to your situation, but I know that with the attenuator off, I would probably run the volume at around half which would clean it up a fair amount. I'm going to try it next week through a closed-back single 12 cabinet loaded with a Celestion Vintage 30 at 8 ohms. I'll report back with my findings.

Using a Mini combo with my MAZ38 SR live now - like it thus far, but in small venues only. I don't hear the same edge from the mini MAZ configuration in larger spaces - and I don't like to mic the amps because I'm no longer in control. May take a few more shows to setup to my ears...
