Anyone have any experience with Warehouse Guitar Speakers? I have read good reviews. Many say the Veteran 30 is better than Celestion V30 (Veteran=no harsh upper mid spike). These speakers are relatively inexpensive compared to Celestions and others. Read good reviews on WGS version of the G12-65 also. I have an open back with V30's now that I use with a Ghia head. This setup doesn't provide a balanced tone in my opinion, need more lows and sweeter, creamier sound all together. I do like the way the V30's cut through the mix, though, but still need something more. I much prefer an open back cab over a closed. Suggestions? When considering suggestions, my gut feeling is to stay away from any Chinese made speakers. Thanks.

I have the Lead 80 clone and it's really nice. I A/B'd it with the Celestion and it was a tad warmer. Great bang for the buck speakers..

I tried them and they are smoother, although they get lost in the mix at a show and sound a little dull. I haven't tried them since. The V30 will cut everytime. They may not sound too good alone but in a band setting you will hear yourself.

Ditto - have a pair of these in my Z-Best and really like them. I got them on the first promo for something like $20 each...who could say no? These have been excellent and reliable. In the meantime, I've blown: a V30, a G12H30 and a Heritage G12-65...and I don't buy Celestion anymore... Cheers, Blair

Does anyone have any experience with the "Reaper"? It's the WGS version of the G12H30.

A friend of mine who is another boutique amp designer/builder (not Dr. Z) told me about these lat week. I had not heard of them, which is kinda weird considering the amount of speakers I've gone through and the level of "tone hound" I *think* I am (LOL). He said they tried every Celestion, Fane, Eminence, Weber, Tone Tubby etc. they could get their hands on and the Warehouse speakers won every time with their amps, especially considering price. I found this thread, so I guess some of you have already heard 'em. I'll have to check them out.

An old thread here, but I thought I'd stick my 2 cents in and bring it back, as I just got a great deal on the 'bay on a WGS alnico G12A speaker, which I stuck in a MAZ 18NR combo. First alnico I've had in years, and I've tried several other 12's in there recently..Eminence Wizard (nice!), Jensen Neo (no personality of it's own), and a Celestion G12H30 (no, thanks). I quickly became addicted to the chime of the WGS, so that's it's new home for awhile.

I have a Reaper in an Rx jr cab and like it more than the H I had in it. Smoother does describe it.

Yeah, I'm not sure I agree with the way WGS describes the Reaper; their text kind of makes it sound like an H30 clone, but it's not.

I have two WGS speakers, the greenback clone and the reaper (H clone)
I like them both. I can't really comment on how close they sound to the originals. I have an English greenback, but it's in an open back where the WGS is in a closed back. But it seems to do fine. And I don't have a G12H to compare the reaper too. I've had a G12H in the past, and only liked it in certain situations. And I've got the Reaper in my Z-28 combo

I recently put a WGS G12A (alnico) in my MAZ 18NR combo, and I'm thrilled with it...the tone with a Strat in particular is just killer. I sold the G12H30 out of there...the above-mentioned "crang" bothered me too. I've not played thru one, but hear a LOT of good things about their greenback clone.

I have a WGS green beret in a 1x12 combo, and just ordered a second one for a 1x12 cab. to me, they are great sounding speakers, and at $69 right now, (there on sale) that's alot better than $140-$149 for a chineese made celestion greenback. (the warehouse speakers are made in kentucky.)

I just replaced the vintage 30 in my Z cab 1x12 (open) with the WGS ET65 and could not be happier. It is smooth & creamy yet still very articulate, very balanced. I'm using it with my Remedy. It sounds great clean and distorted. Very cool looking too. It's white powdercoated w/a black and silver sticker on the magnet. The box says assembled in the USA, so the parts could be made anywhere. It looks very well made. I will buy from them again. Anyone want to buy a vintage 30?

I entered today trying to get more info on this speakers with z amps. I am using my ezg50 with a g1265 paired with a wgs et65. It´s a beatiful combination. Also tried the et65 on it´s own, and i a/b'ed with the cele 1265. The et65 it´s a very balanced speaker. No spike or over exageration for any frequency. Good lows, nice tight midrange and nice presence, without harshness. It sounds very good outside of the box. Dynamic, and not stiff. The 1265 i find it a little bit warmer with more rich mids, less lows, and less punch. That´s why i like them together! i was wondering what will a blackhawkk alnico will make with my amp. Been listening to the speaker in demos and really like the tones!

im interested in hearing about the Reaper 55hz and the Reaper HP 55hz (can be requested when you order). How does the overall response compare to the regular Reapers? I know it's going to have more bass....but aside from that? It's kind of annoying that most of the sound/video demos of their speakers are usually through humbuckers paired with marshalls or mesa boogies. Their new Invader 50 speaker was just demo'd in a video with a les paul/marshall setup. some of these British clone speakers really need to be put through their paces with a AC30, Matchless, Dr.Z, and maybe with a tele or strat. it's hard for me to buy one of their speakers when i can only hear how they sound with a rig that doesnt even come close to resembling my setup.

stratboy01 this is exactly why I've hesitated so much on picking one of their speakers up. Makes me wanna just get an Avatar 112 with a Celestion Blue and call it a day...

I just got a WGS Invader which is a higher powered Green Beret. So far I'm very impressed and have it in a Dr Z cab. Sounded great with the Remedy and Maz Jr.

I've thought about the Invader too. But one of the characteristics of the greenback is it's early breakup. And I would think you wouldn't get that as much with a higher powered speaker.

I have the green beret and it is a great speaker. It does break up early and has a very forward midrange. It sounds great overdriven, but I'm not that happy with the clean tones. It hard to get a sparkly clean from it. Overdriven, it does have a certain character to it....where the black shadow it replaced was clean and uncolored....this speaker has a lot of personality. I'll keep it for another cab, but I'm looking for something else.
It's in a 3/4 back 1x12.
