Ok I listened to the galaxy clips/videos and what I heard I liked, however a few things puzzle me and I thought some of you who are more knowledgeable might be able to sort some of them out...
The galaxy uses the cathodyne phase inverter much like many narrow panel (small to medium amps) and the same OT as a tweed super. Well the original OT's used on the super/bandmaster/pro were 28W, so I'm wondering how the galaxy is rated at 30/40watts?
Another thing the good doctor has made which I love is the fact that the amp has a simple single input, but makes me wonder wether the pre amp is based on the super or a complete design departure?
The two volumes probably mean two triodes at first stage (one for each channel), but the amp only uses 3 preamp tubes, so the only way I can think of to get more drive to the gainish channel is to switch the local feedback in the second stage off (like seen on a super).
Or if the preamp is a different design altogether could the tonestack be plate driven rather than using a cathode follower?
Anyways I don't expect this last question to be answered because it wouldn't be right for the good doctor to reaveal the secrets of the trade... I will however ask how close to a tweed super does the first channel sound, to those who have tried the amp??
Thanks I appreciate your answers, I was preparing myself to get a route 66, but after seeing the galaxy and being a tweed super fanatic, well let's just say the sound and the looks of the galaxy are making me think twice!
Again doctor z you rocked my world... these amps are growing on me to the point I feel I really have to own at least one
Thanks

yeah I understand, I guess I just wanted to know if the preamp was along the lines of a super or really different... but then again it's the sound that really matters!
Ok off I go, find me an european dealer... and get a head version, the combo might be a little too expensive right now, so the head will do fine!
thanks again
PS: By the way could someone fill me in on why the amp is rated at 30/40w if it uses a 28w super OT?

I don't want to spill all the beans but.
Fender rated there amps in RMS Wattage.
RMS Wattage= Peak Wattage X .707
28.28 W = 40 W X .707
As for the rest well the clean channel is very close to the Tweed Super architecture as well as V2 and V3.
But Channel 2 the hot channel is my own design from YEARS of experience, very original, and VERY HOT.
Uses two great sounding Groove Tube GE clear top 6L6's, and a 5U4 G rectifier.
Also export versions won't be available till I receive and test my new Galaxie Export Power Transformer. Could be a month or so.

amazing, thanks doctor for taking time to answer my questions... I'm really glad to know the clean channel is close to the super, and even happier to know the second is brand new Z design!
You've definitely got my attention with this one!
Another month, no problem I'm still gathering funds!
I'll buy this one!
Again a big thank you
