There is conflicting info on which tube is correct for V5 Tube info on the Dr Z Site states GT 12AT7 NOS The manual states 12AX7 . What is the optimum tube in this spot ? I am not looking for high gain, my goal is sparkly cleans with a little hair on them. I have just installed GT EL84s power tubes with a 7 rating, Tungsol 12ax7's ( V1 V2 V4) and a Jan Philips 12AT7 ( V3) . My amp is 2 years old.

My email from the Doc has a 12AX7(LPS) for that position with the AT7 in the middle or 3rd, and that is what the diagram stapled on the side of the cab has as well. You have it right! Steve

The 12AT7 post on the site refers to older MAZ-38's, which I used NOS Sylvania 12AT7's with much success, that needs to be corrected. The new MAZ 38 Senior ( which you have, no negative feedback ) works best with a Sovtek 12AX7 LPS in V5 . DR.Z
