Well I picked up a Z-28 2-10 yesterday. I am away from home so I haven't played it yet other than to try it when I bought it. It sounded terrific. Can't wait to get it home! Now I'm looking to get a boost or overdrive pedal, maybe BB. Any thoughts on Xotic pedals? What are the other Xotic pedals and how do they work with the Z-28?

I had a BB Preamp. Sounded really nice. The Z28 has taken every pedal that I have ever tried very well. Superb choice on a 1st amp. Good job!

Maybe a brake-lite instead? That way you can crank the amp without getting evicted

Anything will work with this amp, use what you like. But the cleans are so good and the "hair' just right that pedals for me have become secondary. This amp is simply musical. you picked a good un'.

Congratulations. The Z-28 is one of the Doc's best creations. So many tonal options out of just 3 knobs.

Congrats on the new Z. And, welcome aboard. Xotic pedals with a '28? Yes. RC Boost and AC Boost will work well on their own and together with BB Pre. Also, Flying Dragon works very nicely, too. Lately, I've been running a Sole Pressure alongside the 'Dragon. Works for me. cheers always, eh Joel

Biggest things I'd say are play with those knobs! I'd agree with most people about the 3, 3, 3 but that led me to ignore what happens below 12 o'clock. 11, 11 is great especially with vol at 4, as is 12, 9 etc. That's where (for me) the more Fender tones lie- something I hadn't expected from a Z. This also may have to do with using NOS tubes etc. Good luck and welcome! Brett

I use an Ibanez tube king TK999US.This pedal blends with any amp since I changed the tube to a telfuken 12AU7.It will make most amps sing, just think what the Z28 does with it.

The 28 is an incredible beast. It takes pedals better than any amp I have ever owned. I have my treble at 11:00 and my bass at Noon, Volume at 11:00 as well. It is already on the verge of hair at that setting for me. Then I stomp on my Wampler Ego Squasher compressor and it pushes the amp very nicely. A tubescreamer TS808 Reissue for more crunch and you'll be in love. I have had some very nice amps over the years and the 28 is my favorite. My band is a Christian Rock band and the 28 does great with the 808 and humbuckers. I also do a lot of session work and the 28 is an amazing country amp as well. It is a very versatile tone monster. You will be very happy with this amp.

Uhhhh, people.... today I picked up a Maz 38 Senior 1-12, a BB and an RC. I got the gear used, but in mint shape. Looks brand new. I went with the intention of just getting the BB, but when I heard the RC also, thru the Maz, I had to get it also. Depleted my gear funds completely for now, but what incredible sounds. I can't wait to get it all home and start playin'. I think I'm hooked! Thanks Joel!!!

Lovepedal E6 the pedal that made my Z-28 come to life, but over all I felt the amp was to brown sounding and traded it. I think it had alot to do with my guitars as they are thicker sounding. The Z-28 reall likes strat style guitars.

I've got a Z-28 and gigged with it for the first time last month. Just an outstanding amp. I played a PRS SC-245 through it, set the treble and bass a little below noon, used a Fat Boost 2 to push it into a little crunch, and an OCD when I needed some heavier OD. I know Dave and a lot of the guys consider this a Strat amp, (and it does sound great with a Strat), but it does a great job with hummers, too.
The first pedal I played through this amp was a friends AC Boost. I thought it was a great sounding pedal.
