Howdy,
I have Z-28 and a Maz 18 Jr. combos, both with 4 and 8 ohm outs. Both are operating speakers at 8 ohms. Say I want to add another 8 ohm speaker box . . . How do I do that?
Different twist - I like to use a H+K Red Box sometimes for live stage recordings. I know I can run it in-line with the speaker. My question is, what happens if I run the 4 ohm out into the box, no speaker on it, send it to my board, and continue to use the 8 ohm speaker as usual?
Totally different topic: I have 6 Dr. Z 10" speakers. Does anyone know which Eminence 10" is most similar to the Z label speaker?
Thanks in advance for all your help,
George

Speaker Output and Line Level are two different things.
You would want to parallel two 8 ohm cabinets for a 4 ohm load and come out of the 4 ohm speaker out. Do not plug into the 8 and 4 ohm outs on the cabinet at the same time.
With a combo and an X Cab it's easier with a parallel cable that Todd here on the Z-Talk makes... (really nice high quality).
That's all I got...

All I could add is perhaps to contact Ted Weber for 1st hand comparisons as the Z 10 was a collaboration between the 2 of them (Ted & Doc)

You need a Y speaker cable adaptor to allow you to put two 8 ohm cabs into the 4 ohm socket. Also put the red box in the speaker line as normal, it does not affect the impedance, then run the balanced DI out to your mixer. So you need: 1xY, 3x speaker cables if you use the red box and a balanced mic cable, 2x speaker cables if you do not use the red box, Y plugged into the 4ohm output.
Regards.

Alright! Some nice suggestions, thank you. I think I'll make the cables myself and continue using the Red Box as I have in the past.
Keep pickin' and grinin'

DC here! Doc:s 10" speakers are assembled in house. Magnet and basket are Eminence. Cone/coils assembly is made to order from England. (my very personal guess would be Celestion - ) Just a guess mind you. Cheers: Dixiechicken!
