Hi there, i tried out a ghia 2x10 combo today, among other z amps, and loved it. However, I have a feeling i might miss the reverb at times. I figured i could just buy an ehx holy grail but then i remembered the ghia doesn't have an fx loop, where reverb is usually placed (right?). So would putting reverb before the amp result in a worse sound or would it be ok? I might just get a maz 18 with reverb instead but there was something about the ghia that i preferred (not least the price) so in an ideal world i'd get the ghia with reverb. Thanks Nick

I may be wrong but I won't be wrong always........but I believe a Ghia is known for it's overdrive sound at low volumes. You wouldn't like reverb thru the front of the amp when it goes into distortion, or echo for that matter. You could demo this effect yourself by running a reverb pedal into an o/d pedal or into the dirty channel on an amp that has distortion.

..i believe you could probably order a Ghia with an effects loop...you can run a HG in line just like a regular pedal as well....i bought a HG thinking i would need it but don't use it with my setup as i just don't miss or need reverb with the Ghia

I bought 2 Ghia's as the music store they were in had an amp room with many boutique amps but when I put a Fender reissue reverb tank in front of 1 I got the best sound I ever heard. So I bought it and ordered another. It did'nt get screechy or fart out as I raised the volume and if you're a front end solo purist you might try a Loopbone from Radial that will give you a hardwired bypass to solo thru and you can kick in the loop/reverb when comping.I've used Ghia's mono and stereo, with/without effects with Gibson's/Fender's/PRS, and the Ghia sounds great. They're both getting near 10 years old and I've not ever had a problem with either of them.

I'm with Bluzsteel and BW. One of the few effects I'll put between me and my Ghia is a Fulltone Tube Tape Echo. The only other box I use with the Ghia is a Xotic RC Booster. The TTE plus the RC into the Ghia is incredible, at usable volumes.

If anyone has a Ghia with a loop let us know. I tried to order my Z-28 with a loop and the Doc wouldn't do it. Don't know why, maybe he doesn't do it with the EF 86 tone stack? Just a guess. But I'd be interested to know if he is willing to put one on a Ghia.

I have a gia with an effect loop (~5 years old). DR Z wasn't very interested in installing the loop, but he did anyway at my request for a small fee. It is not buffered and there are no gain controls or anything, just taps into the signal path. I had tried a reverb in the loop but it did not have the correct gain structure and controls to sound good. When I got the ghia, I was very into effects, etc. and couldn't imagine an amp without them. The more I play the ghia, the more I find the reverb unnecessary. I haven't tried anything else on the loop. If you are looking for a suber reverb sort of reverb sound, look elsewhere, this is not in the ghia's tone pallete. I like to A/B between the ghia (lead) and a 67 SR (clean).

I am running a Holy Grail into the front of my Ghia and I don't notice any extra noise. On the other hand, I don't use the reverb that much.
