I already got the Route 66 and I love it, but I need a combo that´s a bit more convenient for smaller gigs and when I´m on the move. More practical you know...
that´s why I´m getting a blonde Z28! ;D
But which speaker combo should I go for? 2x10" or 4x10"?

I think for smaller gig go with the 2x10. I'm sure the 4x10s would be great. Striped down 2x10s will be enough.

Doc's 2x10 in the small cabinet would work great.

2x10's. The 4x10's would be awesome!! but not easy to lug around.
I have a 1x12, and would trade it for a 2x10 in a heart beat. I plugged my Z28 into my Savage 2x10 cab w/ celestion 10's, 60 watters, very similar in approach as the Z 10's, and it was awesome.

210 cab (older style) will definitely use a smaller amount of space. easy to move. and, there is still lots of volume and tone with 'em. 410 will definitely give you a full(er) sound, but take up a larger space and there is a bit of extra weight. am not sure about the dimensions of the new convertible 210 compared to Z 410 .... but I do know it works quite nicely with a '28 I've got the Z 210 (older rectangular) cab and really like the way it works with clean and drive tones from the Z-28. I like the way it looks, I like the way it sounds and I like the portability of it. If I were making the choice again, I'd still go with the one that I got cheers always, eh Joel

I bought a pair of Z-10's from a member here & built an open-back cab for them. I use it as an extension speaker for my Z-28 2-10 combo, and it sounds great! I also use it with a Crate Power Block for a small, go-to practice amp. The Power Block fits inside the cab, so it's really a portable, easy to haul setup.
I thnk to 2-10 cab would work great for you.

I've not looked back since picking up an old style 2x10 in a trade for my 1x12. You'll love it.

pretty fun thread to me. I went the opposite of most of you, I had a 2x10 combo, sold it and got a 1x12 combo. Couldn't love the 1x12 anymore, but then again I play it wide open with a greenback and humbuckers - so it's probably just the sound you want out of it. Great amp though....

1-12 with a beamblocker to dissapate the sound better. I use them on my amps just for that purpose. Some say it kills the top end, I admit it takes off some of the "bite' but its negligible. I like the fact that it puts the sound around, makes that 1-12 sound huge. However, that said, you could do the same thing with a 2-10 or whatever cab you choose.
