So the 45 side of my 6545 has a volume knob that's getting a little scratchy. It seems that everytime I bring my amp-tech, he looks at me like I'm an idiot after I explain the problem - you know, like anyone should be able to fix the problem.... Is a scratchy knob something I can do on my own.....? Remember, I'm just a simple unfrozen caveman attorney.

Remove the knob on the KT-45 Vol pot. Carefully use a 7/16 " Nut driver and check the tightness of the pot's nut. Replace knob.
If that doesn't help try swapping in a new EF-86 the one you have may have developed a slight DC grid leak, and that's causing the scratch.

DON'T overtighten the nut on the pot. DON'T ask how I know.
