Hi,
I never understood why with the Z-28 and Fender deluxe reverb there is no middle (mids) tone control. Can somebody please explain why there isn't one? Sometimes when switching from single coils to humbuckers I wish there was a middle (mids) knob or full TMB.
Thank you

Probably cost cutting. On a blackface deluxe the mids are set at the equivalent of 4 on a mid range control. On the Z28, the Doc usually says less tone controls means less in the way of the signal. The Z28 has tone controls which seem to add mids and gain as you turn the treble and bass up above 12 o'clock Brett

Its a fact, the bass and treble controls also add mids and gain as you crank them up. no reason to add what you don;t need. keeps the circut cleaner, and I am not sure but the EF86 may enhance the mid response as well.

Some amps need a mid control. IMO, the Z-28 does not...the mids are always present in just about the right quantity to my ears.
I had a SF Princeton for a while that a local tech had added a mid control on the back panel. For that amp it made a huge improvement.
