I'm getting a mazarati used in trade on saturday, and I don't think I've been this excited about a piece of gear in a long time.
my rig is going to be:
g and l asat special , partsocaster into: xotic bbpreamp, BYOC delay, Boss dd-20 into the maz, into a 78 marshall 4x12 with hellatone 30s and 60s in it.
I'm pretty stoked about this, though i'm wondering if it will be too saggy for the band i'm in... either way i am excited.
I've been playing a gibson goldtone 30rv head and i like it but i wanted something a little nicer. i think this is going to cut it.
i plan on getting a z airbrake as well.

The Mazerati is my favorite of all the Z's!

Stack an RC booster (treble and bass knobs @ 2:00) after your BB, ...you can thank me later!
Nice rig, should sound killer.

Yeah, I second that SS rectifier solution. For $20, it's an easy way to change up the amp, without modification.

Thank you for the suggestion guys. The main problem I may run into is the big room no mic situation, which happens time to time on tour. The amp is just SOLID and I love it, so I can deal with the situation. I may check into getting an RC booster, and I may try a solidstate recto, but I'll probably call dr z first and make sure it won't fry anything.
its a great amp though. I have played my guitar so much more since It came!
I'll have a music video soon with the amp 'in it' i'll post it.

RC Booster is a great little pedal, especially w/ the Rati. Don't worry about the SS Rectifier doing damage. It is a 5AR4, just SS.

The Lizard Leg Flying Dragon and a Keeley Compressor are a great pair of pedals in front of the Rati!!!

i gigged two shows with the amp now. My observations are that it is slightly thin and i'm going to need to fine tweak my pedals and figure out the sweet spot on the tone knob. I may also put in some new tubes to make sure that its running its best.
Personally though, this is the best tone I've had, that I can remember, and it sounds great with my g and l.
It makes me have to play tighter, because its cleaner, and I like that.

My observations are that it is slightly thin ... That's where the RC comes in, last in the chain...up the bass knob and leave the pedal on. It fattens up nicely, even moreso with your OD pedal on.

this amp doesn't cut it in a medium sized room. *sadface* If a Mazerati isnt loud enough...do yourself a favor and invest in some good earplugs before its too late! When I first got my RAti it had Weber Alnico Blues in it...sounded sweet but didnt cut through at higher volumes...now I'm using a Weber Ceramic Blue(30w) and a Celestion Gold and I cant imagine ever needing more volume than that combination puts out.

must be something wrong with your amp if it is not loud enough............. try Eminence Tonker ...you'll never be worried about Volume again trust me

there's definitely nothing wrong wtiht he amp...
maybe its just not 'heavy' enough tone.. its barealy loud enough, and it sounds best around 2:00 - it can be loud enough in the right venue, but unmiced in a medium club its not cuttin it.
i wear earplugs.

ZERO disrespect bro....but........I usually play an un-mic'd Ghia at most jams...some pretty respectable sized rooms there too. So far, with just a Zendrive/cable/1x12 C.blue....I have YET had to dime it, and that's just 18 watts...
Is J. Bonham your drummer??
Try running your own "personal" monitor in front of you. I simply cannot imagine a venue, where a mic'd Maz isn't loud enuff. Even an un-mic'd Maz should tear your head off on stage @ 2:00. The Ghia/blue damn sure will...FWIW/YMMV/JMO/etc.....

That "original" Mazerati that Curt, Don and I found at Willcutt's (which Curt bought, that dog!) had two blues in it, sounded like the voice of heaven, and was LOUD.
You're talking to a guy (me) who plays a Mazerati GT, Delta 88 and original Rx. Through a Z-Best. And has recorded with a Delta 88/Z-Best on one side and a Route 66/G12H on the other. And I'm tellin' ya, that's one LOUD amp!
If you don't think Curt's Mazerati is loud enough, you must be a member of the band "Living Stereo". ;D

Your first Z is a Mazerati? That's like having a BMW for your first car!
