I'm trying to decide between the Sylvania or RCA. Either one is a good tube. I've got a lot of various 5Y3's and they all sound close to the same to me (and I'm picky).

Any NOS 5Y3 is great .... there were no mediocre ones

All are close as mentioned above. I have a Sylvania and a Phillips- the Sylvania is slightly sharper in the high end. A great alternative is the Bendix 6106- a bit fuller with a very slow start up and so longer power tube life. But for all that, they're all great Brett

I happened to have bought the Bendix myself from KCANOS and it is indeed a keeper

I just bought a lot of 14 NOS 5Y3s on eBay. A couple of them are 5Y3GT (not Groove Tubes). Can I assume those will work well in my Ghia too?
Thanks, bs

I just put a JAN Philips 5Y3 GTA in my own tweed champ that I built. It made a HUGE improvement over the new production Sovtek I had originally. It cost about $12.......had I known I wouldn't have bothered with the Sovtek ever.

That's what I was hoping. Thanks, Myles.

That's what I was hoping. Thanks, Myles. You are in luck ... whatever you have is good as all NOS 5Y3's are great, not a bad one in the bunch.
