Trading my Rx Jr this week with a fellow board member and getting the z28 with a 1x12 cab too.
I am looking forward to good cleans, and some rockin tones to blow my buddies away with. I am not sure which song I want to play first!!!!
I will prob buy a 2x10 or a 2x12 open back cab. Will most likely add either a Stang Ray or Mazerati to the herd.
DAVE: STAY OUT OF THIS!!! HAHA ;D
Cheers!!

I only had my Z28 for a few months because I didn't have the opportunities to crank it up like it needed to be to get the power amp tubes cooking. But, just by looking at your pedals (Zen, Timmy, FDII) you will have no problem getting killer tone at a lower volume plus a nasty growl if you're able to crank it past 11 o'clock most of the time with humbuckers and 1 o'clock with single coils. You will have fun!!

Sweet!! I am trading my RX only, and ONLY becuase, I dont like to use the full functionality of the Over Dose and that I think the tone in my head is more 6v6 and 6l6 based.
Great little amp, but I just want some more clean headroom!!! the chime is amazing tho! (I just thought I would toss that in since I saw you had the R jr head in your aresenal!)

Congrats on the new Z-28!
I'm lovin' mine. Used it again this weekend at our gig. It sounded awesome with the two Strats I brought.
My rig setup was like this:
Eric Johnson Strat ---> Boss TU-2 ---> Verbzilla ---> Sparkle Drive ---> OCD ---> Z-28.
I didn't really use the OCD much at all. Used the SD to get sort of a treble boost on some songs, and used the Verbzilla to add some ambience on softer tunes.
The Z seems to get along great with all those pedals.

She gets along with almost every pedal I have tried! You will be a smilin' once you fire up the amp. It is a great piece of gear! I have been using the open 210 configuration a lot lately. Sounds real nice.

How stoked? For a Z-28? Absolutely you should be stoked ;D The '28 is the first Z amp that I bought .... I had never played thru one before, I just rolled the dice and ordered sight unseen and sound unheard .... best gamble in tone-chasin' I ever made. And, now almost 3 years later it is still at the heart of my collection. I keep coming back to it and lovin' how it works with 112 or 210 ... sometimes both hooked-up at the same time. Singles, P90s or 'buckers? Yes! And pedals? Yup. It works very, very nicely. ;D cheers always, eh Joel p.s. I still love my other Z amps ...

It was pretty hard boxing her up and sending her off.
Dude you should be plenty stoked. While I like the bigness of the Z-28 stack. I always enjoyed the look when i played it with a single cab or the stack.
We'll see how the RxJr goes.

If you like old sounding amps you'll love it. Old like early '60s or even '50s. Very dynamic- whereas the Ghia with its cathode bias is very smooth and even, the Z28 will bite and bark if you hit harder. Great with a tele, great with anything. Brett

I've got a Z28 2x10 combo, and I can't stop playing that amp. Great tone no matter what I plug into it, but I'm especially digging humbuckers through the Z28. I picked up a 2x10 extension cab, and running that with the combo puts out a ton of tone!
Dave's a great guy to deal with, too. Congrats on the Z28!
