Lets say I love the RT66 ( we wouldn't be lying ) and I haven't had a chance to play a Z-28...could happyiness be found w the 28? I love the idea of not having to spend money on a airbrake to get the 66 to "magic tone land" but...I love the 66's burnished, blooming, umph...anyone? anyone A/B'd them to answer the same question for themselves?

The Z-28 sits good in a band either clean/cleanish or completly broken up. Don't know how a RT66 sits, but I have heard she is louder. I will tell you. If you play or need to play quiet you will not get the Z-28 reach it's sweet spot. My rockin duo/trio with backing tracks has to do this alot and I have switched to 5 watt amps.

I played last night using the Z28 to about 250 people in a rocking venue and except when I wanted a cleanish lead on the tele, I needed my attenuator to allow me to a get a pumped up screaming lead with the OCD. Unlike the Ghia when the rhythm is crunchy and the lead gets louder but not too loud, the Z28 just keep pushing and even with the attenuator there were times when I was still riding my volume pedal for solos. Yeah, it has a dirty headroom thing going on. It will get louder and louder the more you pump into it.
