Hello,
I am talking with a fellow forum member to trade amps. My Rx Jr for his Z28.
I am looking for more cleans. I play some rockabilly, Cash, Chris Isaak, along with good ol classic rock (Petty, etc) along with some AC/DC and some 80's music. Also play some surf stuff and some 90's alt. REM, Foo Fighters, etc....
Am I in the right spot???

Am I supposed to relpy to this?
All I'll say is you have a nice selection of pedals to work with a Z-28. THe E6 your looking at is great combo with the Z-28.
Hope some other people come around and answer your questions.

My experience with the 28 is that its a great raw and ballsy amp. You really hear the organic-ness of the guitar the resonance of the wood with this amp. It is loud at break up and great for a small venue. It does best on single coils IMO. IF you want the headroom put it through a 2x10. If your cranking the blues its going to put your sound to the forefront with clarity. This to me is a blues amp. Its not a dreamy fender clean amp but its cleans are full round and sweet.

Great answer- I'd read so much about the sweet 6v6 sugary highs- well it certainly has little in common with my 63 Princeton or any bf deluxe I've played. Do I like it? Yes but on its own terms- a great amp Brett

In reguards to the speakers I have experiences with.
The Weber Alnico Sig has quick break up and is not reccomend unless you want no headroom and lower volume. The difference between my 2x10 and G30H cab is not nearly the case as the Weber or Greenback even. The 2x10 stays clean longer based on the nobs on the amp because there is no speaker break up at all with the Z-28's 22 watts. While the G30H will have the sound of the speaker starting to break up right before the amp starts breaking up.
I switch back and for the between the 1x12 and 2x10 all the time. I'm not sure which one I perfer any more. All three of them is a great sound that is massive.

Thanks Buster I like to switch the 28 from a 30w Ceramic blue to the Z 2x10 as well but I noticed some flab in the 1.12 in which case I may go to a Texas Heat..Im not sure. Any suggestions for speaker wattage and choice is appreciated.
