You guys must get sick of the..."which Z for me?" post but... I was always entranced by Z's ( 'cause they look so cool ) and I had heard one local guy use a maz jr and a super z...but we had no local distributer so...I was bit shy about layin' down a chunk o' coin on something I'd never played...but lo and behold we get a dist and now I'm in trouble...I playing some cranked up "crossover" blues ( rocked up Chicago stuff...no SRV....everybody does that ;D)...I'm playin' a es 335/ prs cu24 through a Mesa Mark IV A combo with a theil 1x12...( oh yeah it's way too loud to crank)we're playin mostly small to med baar clubs w/little to no PA support for intruments) ...ok thats out of the way...I'm trying to descide between a Bad Cat cub 2 used and a Ghia combo...both with the option of going through the 1x12...is this going to be enough volume or do I go for the Rt66 which sounds so freaking amazing when I played it, but I probably couldn't get to it's sweet spot as readily...I didn't try the maz 18 cause they only had hte blonde combo and...it looks kinda funny to me ( maybe it would grow on me?)...man this is long winded but I've been lurking along time...hi

Welcome to the forum. You'll get a lot of answers here, and most will tell you that what they have is the answer to your problems. And for the most part, every one of them will be right. Go back and play that Maz Jr. Just because that one is blond doesn't mean you can't order up a black one. The Maz Jr is the best selling Dr. Z amp ever, and there is a reason. It is probably the most flexible amp in the lineup. That said, the Ghia commands a large group of worshipers here at Z-Talk. Yeah, the Ghia is a religious experience. On the Rt 66, all you need is an Airbrake to get it to the good stuff at reasonable stage volumes. I use one (Airbrake) and many others here do too. Ask the dealer about it - he may have one there for you to try. Blues? Ghia, Maz Jr, Maz Sr, Rt 66, EZG-50, Galaxie, SRZ-65, Z28... All of those will work, but they are all different.

Welcome aboard Black. Most of the time my Ghia 1X12 is my go-to amp. Lightweight & simple. I would suggest that if you're playing small to medium sized rooms and your drummer knows the meaning of the word 'dynamics' you should be good to go with a Ghia. For outdoor and/or loud gigs I'll reach for the Maz 38 combo and often used them both together. Happy shopping! -jeff
