... hot or not? (Dig the leather trim So anyway, I have the opportunity to pick one up. I personally love the look but at $3000, it's a bit expensive. It's the 6130 I always wanted. Gretsch makes them in Japan, and the Knotty Pine series was limited to either 70 or 75 of them, I can't remember... ...what say you?

They look very cool mojotwanger, kind of like the paneling in my living room! What do you do when the knots fall out?

Amazing tone. Amazing. The pine really helps out. It made me want to make a pine tele.

Well, as tempted as I was, I decided to not pursue it for now, and the current owner went ahead and traded it with someone else. I may regret it, but my amount of flip-flopping was a bad sign - or at least I interpreted it as such.

Well, I don't want to offend anyone. But I'm not a fan at all.

Mojo, It's a beautiful axe. No question. I especially like the leather work around the edges. However, 3K seems like a lot of scratch, though, for an axe, that's, let's face it, a one trick pony. I think your decision to postpone is most wise. - Marty

Yeah, I am still going back and forth on that decision, but I think it was the right one as well... time will tell

I'm not too drawn to orange jets or anything, it was the sound that got me. Amazing tone.

Vintage ones don't go for much more than that - I'd personally look for a deal on a vintage one. I like the Gretsch tones and have both a '59 Tennessean and a '59 Duo-jet (which were comparable in price to what you are looking at!)

That's a good point, Jaguarguy. Thanks for that bit of info

I think you'd have a really tough time finding a pine jet for anything near that price. It isn't like it changes the tone to that of a completely different guitar but there is a very audible difference. One that benefits the guitar, I think.
I'd also check with independent dealers for prices too. They're almost always lower than the box stores, with much better service.

The deal I was working on involved a trade, so there was very little if any money involved inthe transaction. Anyway, the guitar was traded, so it's a moot point now

I like the Western vibe to it--this coming from a Northern Yankee. ;D

I do too, and to a Southerner, I am worse than a Yankee... ... I am a French man

I do too, and to a Southerner, I am worse than a Yankee... ... I am a French man Ya ain't from 'round here er ye'? ;D Maybe its just me; but when I think orange Gretsch I instantly picture 6120. The knotty pine finish is cool (I'd love a knotty pine Esquire) but the guitar in general just doesn't do it for me. Of course, I've never spent much time with any of the smaller body Gretsch's either.

Nope, I'm not from here... though I have now lived here more years than I have lived at "home" I'd love to get an orange 6120 as well... would be nice indeed.
